I woke up to the old "heat advisory" so, since there will be running around today, I went straw. This is a Pinzano of unknown straw (likely Milan) with a 3" brim. That ought to do the trick nicely.

Went back into the forest to get the mushrooms that i saw yesterday, I forget to take a bag so i improvised with my cheap leather yard hat.

Celebtating the find with a homemade Gin and Tonic sorbet.

Wishing everybody a good day

Very cool - we used to hunt morel mushrooms when we went to visit my Grandmother in Waynesboro, PA when I was a kid.

What variety of mushrooms are those? They put me in mind of mushrooms we call Chicken of the Woods here.

Wearing my first Christy's today, courtesy of @jeffgarf.

My wife likes this one. She says the brim proportions are correct for my size and frame - 5'8" 185 lbs., for the record.

I'm going to post a picture of the Optimo for comparison. The brim on the Christy's is 2 1/2" and the brim on the Optimo is 2 3/4", which isn't that wide for me these days.

But for the moment, I digress - Jeff Garf, my first Christy's - love this hat :)

And the Optimo:

Since I bought the Optimo before I had a standardized system for recording new hats, and for the purposes of this conversation, I pulled it back out and got some new photos.

What I notice now, having had more experience with a wider variety of hats, is that I don't think it's the brim width that is really giving me trouble. I am actually having issues getting the brim shaped according to my current preferences. I didn't clock this when I first bought it. I suspect this is caused or exacerbated by the thin brim ribbon, which feels like it is forcing it into a preferred configuration.

I can’t see what you’re talking about with the brim - is it visible in these pics? I like this one :)
This is the way I like it, but if it sits for a while, it shrinks up a bit and has an exaggerated front and rear swoop when screwed on the head. when its stretched out properly to my head it has a nice even curve. Going to hit it with a bit of steam today and leave it on the stretcher with gentle pressure for a couple days

Now, when you say mushrooms, you mean . . .?

Very cool - we used to hunt morel mushrooms when we went to visit my Grandmother in Waynesboro, PA when I was a kid.

These are known as Chanterelle mushrooms in English, very nice when fried and eaten with some toasted bread. They are unfortunately not of the magical variety :p

I am sure of five mushrooms and leave the rest to more knowledgeable people.

I am not sure if I have seen the chicken in the woods before, I shall have to look into that.

I did once find a mushroom that translates as trumpet of death, despite the name it was a particullary nice mushroom to eat.

Yesterday's hat of the day.
Custom-made c. 1776 fur felt cocked hat (they weren't called tricornes in the 18th century) with red silk cockade.
The Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead National Historic Landmark joined several thousand organizations across the country to read the Declaration of Independence at 6:00 pm their timezone in conjunction with a project spearheaded by Hawai'i 250 celebrating the 250th anniversary of the first public reading.

People always seem to recommend not reshaping the new ones but that seems to look ok. Do you have any other shots of it? How did it respond to the reshape
Reshaped just fine......here are a couple of more photos (different pug) as I am not wearing it today....but the "straw" is fine. Just need to use generous amount of steam and patience. I did re-flange it too (I have several flanges).

And without the pug.

BONUS: a 10X I also reshaped.......

So.....YES, it indeed CAN be done.;)
