I saw that hemp Borsalino at auction and had to use great restraint to keep from bidding. I've would have if I hadn't already bought two hats over the past couple of weeks. That will make you a very nice straw that I think you'll love. I'm very glad to see that you got it!
This hat takes care of a couple issues for me... #1 I didnt own a Borsalino and #2...I didnt have a Navy blue hemp hat ( I have a couple Naturals a turquoise, a Black, a Green, and a dark brown but no dark blue ( Im particularly fond of Hemp Stratoliners)

Fed Ex didnt get here with my new $12 Akubra Boomerang till almost 830 last night so I had to rush out at first light to start the day this morning. Really surprised at how great the condition is... no spots, wavy bits and it fits! I havent even brushed this one yet. Truely ready to wear right out of the box!

I love adopting cheap hats!

Nice! Ive got Stylemasters in Black, Acorn Fawn and Carbon grey, but Ive never seen a Federation blue one.. I like that one
My understanding if correct is the Stylemaster is Aukubra ‘s oldest design dating from the 1930’s. Certain Queensland store stock a wide variety of colours. I spotted this colour as mentioned in a local old town and country store and they took my order and six months later the hat in my size turned up.

The Stylemaster is probably my favourite design as a city hat. Its close brother the Bogart I have only spotted in black has a wider ribbon and possibly wider brim.

Federation blue is a great strong colour that suits the Stylemaster. May favourite is this one. It is a style well suited to suits and strong colours IMHO.

Here's a few pictures of my latest "going to town hat". Stetson Clear Nutria in a wonderful Golden hue long hair with Burgundy brim binding and matching grosgrain ribbon hatband.

* Once again I'm hoping y'all could educate me about this 'un. Research tells me that G. Henry Stetson was the 3rd son of John. B Stetson and that he ran the company after his father's death in 1906 until the company closed it's doors in 1971. Lots of these old hats have the previous owners initials stamped on the leather sweatband however this one is stamped G. Henry Stetson. While I would love to think that I happened to be lucky enough to find one of old Henry's personal hats I get the feeling this was stamped on hats produced during his time of leadership at the company. On another note, the person I bought this hat from says it was worn by Andria Lane in an episode of Rough Riders. As previously stated, any information about this beautiful hat will be appreciated. Hope y'all have a good 'un !

Reminds me of some of the hats from the old Cisco Kid TV series. Great find!

Back from the mornings errands and coffee. Piddling around the backyard trying to get some edging finished before it rains again. Thought it might be a good opportunity for some Hemp Maintenance. Steamed up the new Biltmore braided Hemp and screwed it on tight... see it I cant loosen up the fit just a smidgen. ( Humm.... maybe I should get a haircut too... that might help) Fired up an old Peterson Canadian with some Lane BCA (black cavendish aromatic). Bloody Marys inbound as soon as the yardwork is done.

On another happy Hemp note, I just picked up a Borsalino fine weave braided hemp in navy in an auction about 20 minutes ago (2-1/4" brim).. Finally got a Borsolino for the wall! Just needs a new ribbon so it will be all personalized by the time I get done with it! Cant wait til the post office decides to get it in my hands! Summer Life be good

I'm still looking for the right Biltmore hemp. I have a nice Stetson Inwood in felt, and I almost pulled the trigger on a hemp version the other day, but damned if those Biltmores don't take the prize. I really like the Lucca model in natural.

How do you find the felt and the construction of the Sterkowski? I have wondered about them for a while now. Looks great on you, btw! Hope it is worth the value. I may pull the trigger one of these days.
If you don't mind a thicker felt, the quality can't be beat! Especially for the price - mine was only $99usd new. I bought it a few years ago. I've seen that their website is a little confusing about the type of felt. When I ordered my Mosca, it stated wool on one page and fur on the other, so I ordered with fingers crossed. The Mosca I received is pure rabbit fur and also has it stamped on the sweatband as 100% fur felt. Not sure how the "wool" made it to their website. At least not for the Mosca.

Even though the felt is thick, it is exceptional quality! I reshaped the crown a little and noticed that the steam really loosened up the felt, so I went ahead and applied steam to the brim as well. What I was left with was and amazingly soft and supple hat that bounces right back to shape, no matter what it's exposed to.

For the price, I couldn't recommend it more!
