Back from the mornings errands and coffee. Piddling around the backyard trying to get some edging finished before it rains again. Thought it might be a good opportunity for some Hemp Maintenance. Steamed up the new Biltmore braided Hemp and screwed it on tight... see it I cant loosen up the fit just a smidgen. ( Humm.... maybe I should get a haircut too... that might help) Fired up an old Peterson Canadian with some Lane BCA (black cavendish aromatic). Bloody Marys inbound as soon as the yardwork is done.

On another happy Hemp note, I just picked up a Borsalino fine weave braided hemp in navy in an auction about 20 minutes ago (2-1/4" brim).. Finally got a Borsolino for the wall! Just needs a new ribbon so it will be all personalized by the time I get done with it! Cant wait til the post office decides to get it in my hands! Summer Life be good

Nice looking Biltmore, and a GORGEOUS rusticated Peterson, Rick. Quite a nice Borsa incoming as well; looking forward to seeing how you finish it.

Today marked the public debut of my Akubra Bushman, which came to me by way of a great deal from Bill @wsmontana. Took me a while to get it shaped as I wanted, and find the proper band, but it's now definitely part of my stable. Even got a compliement this morning from a young man under 40, which is not the usual demographic of hat complimenters I encounter. I was quite pleased. :)

The Biltmore is getting there... already enlarged a hair since it got here... little bit more and it should pretty much drop into place without having to screw it on lol.

These old Peterson Canadians are really nice... the extra inch or so of briar in the stem really help make a cool smoke with aromatics... Besides old pipes just have personality that new pipes just dont have ( this one is pre 1940)

For the incoming Borsalino Im planning on keeping it simple... prob a narrower 3/8"- 1/2" grosgrain with modest campaign bow. Trying to decide whether a black or ribbon will look better on it.. Prob cant make that decision till it actually gets here.

I suppose it might make inch me toward finding a nice felt Borso too. Still searching for a "Fred Bear" hat...
Henry the Hatter in Detroit supplied all of Freds Borsalinos ( he wore several and gave away a bunch of them). They ordered them marked as a Borsalino Ranger. So in case anyone has an unknown "Ranger" in 7-1/4 US laying around, please let me know lol. Its my Grail hat. Many moons ago I bought my first fedora...a Stetson Moose River at Miller Hats in Houston because it was as close as I could afford to one on my jr high paper route budget lol
