The Carter detachable sweatband system was this design where the sweat was held in with these little metal buttons. The idea being the sweat could be easily replaced. Unfortunately it didn’t catch on and went the way of Betamax… a better mousetrap maybe for the customer that never became standard. Although I’m sure in a factory setting it was easier to machine sew on the sweat as opposed to sewing the buttons at the designated intervals and then fitting the sweat in.Detachable leather?
