Variable days with sun alternating with clouds, often the light is magnificent.
A little hot for the period, but acceptable.
Bruciato Borsalino B.jpg

Borsalino of recent production, no name of the color and even less of the hat, but this is one of those rare gems when I speak of some precious stone that is still produced in Alessandria.

For all observers of Borsalino production: I repeat, look around carefully before buying and then despising the hat.

Thanks for your appreciations that I reciprocate with a single load of likes.

Thanks, Mark, for all your nice hat comments.
I have been battling it out with hurricane Helene the last two days. She’s winning.
Power has been out and will likely stay out for a while. I’ve heard rumors it took out one of the main substations and power guys can’t even work on downed power lines until the substation is up. Grrrr.
At least I have a generator. It keeps the fridge and freezers and some lights goin.
The eye went by about 80 miles to the west.
Did some damage in that path.
We got some downed trees, that’s about it. Hardly no rain. Where the eye went over they got gobbs of rain. Atlanta got washed and rinsed!
Yikes!!!! Doesn't sound like much fun to me! But, glad you didn't get hammered as badly as some. Hope you get your power back soon!

Seeing today's sunshine after yesterday's biblical rainfall I gambled on this fine straw that former Lounger, Esther Weis made for me. "Judging by that looming cloud," my lady said, "you might want to think about that." She's right of course and the neck tie just seemed to suit The Susquehanna felt.

Welcome to the weekend ! This morning's choice is an open crown Dove Gray western style hat from Hatters Guild, New York. While definitely not in the same league as a Stetson, Mallory or Dobbs, all in all a nice hat that I picked up cheap on eBay. My kinda deal !

Interesting hat. The bow style on that one looks like the bow work you see on thin ribbon Borsalinos. I like the block type on that one too. Nice one.

Dermotta Wien, date stamped December, 1955. I have to say I really like this Homburg. Great felt, form, components and workmanship. I found this Homburg back in 2011.

"Dermotta Vienna" "Leopold Dermottta Wien" Display Stand, possibly 1920s. Daniele kindly gifted me this display back in 2018. I believe it came from an old Italian Hat shop.

Hello my fellow hat enthusiasts. I have been away for a while. I am glad to see that the hat show continues I have a lot of catching up to do. Last days of straw for me. I just need the energy to pack them up and put them away.

Complimentary as ever, much appreciated. That blazer is a favourite of my wife, she saw it on a trader's stall, at a vintage festival some time ago. The lady not only made my shirt and trousers to go with that blazer, on seeing the hat she encouraged me to buy it. Who am I to argue?

And today we went fabric shopping, expect a different hat and ensemble within the coming weeks.
