New Hat, Poet Fedora from Bates Hatters London. Ribbon got a bit wrinkled in transit , but a gorgeous hat made from super soft Antelope felt, comfortable and warm. If only I had the hand eye co-ordination to put proper pinches in

Nice morning here.... looks like the hurricane will skirt the Texas coast and hit Louisiana instead of us here. Should get a couple days of rain starting later today and tomorrow, but should stay civil

Out in the air this morning with what appears to be an early 50's Whippet. Headliner was missing and there no Whippet embossing on the sweat, but based on appearance Im pretty confident thats what it is. Put in a new liner so it looks a bit more civilized. As I mentioned yesterday, there wasnt even any dust on the hat when it came in. Did a little light steaming and let it tell me how it wanted to be shaped. I did reshape the Diamond top bash as it added a couple weird dimples on he back side of the crown. Now back is smooth and back is sort of a teardrop with just a hint of the old diamond up top. Its definately shifts colors a lot depending on the lighting

I absolutely love this hat! Not a moth nibble or stain anywhere on the felt. Thought I had a couple stains on the edge binding, but a damp cloth seems to be removing them well. Sweatband could be a little nicer, but its intact and still pretty supple with no cracks. Ill get some conditioner on it today, but I figured it needed to make a debut trip to the coffee shop first.

Its obviously been worn, but for a 70-something yr old hat its in really nice shape

The heat has been terrible in this Italian summer to take away any desire to wear summer hats or caps.
In the last few days the heat front has eased after a couple of days of rain and so I went back for a walk to reach my studio and resume work on selling my collection.

This morning was a fantastic morning for walking, after a few hours less, but we will return to "normal" temperatures in a few days.


The hat is a nameless panama reworked by Penumbra Hats, a hat maker in the Netherlands
