This little old beat up Dobbs with guild edge Was just the ticket as we ventured to Amerant Bank Arena (Home of the NHL 2024 Stanley Cup Finals Champions - the Florida Panthers) for WWE Monday Night Raw. It was a good choice both for its smaller dimensions and with in the shape it is in, I did not mind pushing a couple pins through the felt as I decked it out with my wrestling tie clip along with a WrestleMania pin from the inaugural event and a WrestleMania XXVIII pin that we were able to attend at Miami Dolphins Stadium about 12 years ago. All went nicely with My WM17 baseball jersey and my son wearing the WM18 jersey that took place long before he was born. My wife went with her Mom 3:16 shirt. Ok enough geeking out. LOL. We had a great time!

On this 70 degree summer day, I am wearing my rum-colored Berg with Kasmir Finish. It is often misclassified as a Homburg hat but can be identified as a Lord's Hat by its raw brim edge and, to a lesser extent, by its side pinches. This hat was made for The Young Men's Shop in Easton, Maryland. I do not have much information on this shop's Easton location as most searches point to locations in Charlottesville, VA and Frederick, MD. However, I did find a photo of a matchbook corroborating it's existence. Based on the inner labels, I estimate this hat was made in the 1960s.

Today's choice is a Stetson Florentine Milan, one of the few modern hats I own. Despite the Stratoliner silhouette I wear this one brim up because it doesn't look right with the brim snapped down. Not sure if it's the curl of the brim or what.
Hope y'all have a good 'un !

Ive had the same issue with my Hemp Stratoliners where the front brim down looks a bit wonkey. I found that if you steam and iron the whole front half of the hat brim flat it lays down way better without the funny waves on the brim

I read awhile back where you mentioned this... just haven't had the nerve to put an iron to my hat yet. Do you lay a towel or something else on the hat before ironing it ?

Definitely use a towel on top if ironing. Im not sure how the Florintine Milan material would react compared to the Hemp under a hot iron... Im thinking it might be best to steam and press flat till cool instead of ironing (Cut out a piece of cardboard to press with.. Steam, cover with a cloth, and weigh the cardboard down flat.. Do the whole front half of the brim) Once flattened out a bit you can always steam the front and introduce a bit more dip in front

A fine summer straw by Knox, sold from Ryan English shops in Pennsylvania Station. The store was in business from the early days of the train station (completed in 1910) and closed in 1977, years after the original station was torn down. There is a nice piece on the shop and its focus on fitting the man on the move in the August 1919 issue of the American Hatter (available on Google Books).
