One of these days I hope to find a vintage Stetson Whippet in fur felt in my size to add to my collection. Not sure what it is about 'em... I just like "the look".

In the meantime I ran across this wide brim Chocolate Brown fedora with Burgundy hatband and matching wide brim binding from Tune Brothers in Terre Haute, Indiana. The felt is very light and molds easily without steam. This one checks all the boxes for me as to what makes a Whippet stand out in my head.

Looks fantastic, Terry!!! @T Jones Are you still hand stitching the binding on? If so, I can’t tell, but man, that’s allota work.
Edit: accidentally used the wrong post for this.
Thank you Randall! Yessir, buddy. Still hand sewing. It's definitely tedious. That's probably why I walk around cross-eyed these days!

Mid 40s Whippet came to today with an open crown and no sign of being creased. I put in a dry bash for this photo and it shaped easily. Needs a serious bath, but not much else. I’ve had several Whippets from late40s/early 50s, but not earlier. View attachment 622243 View attachment 622245 View attachment 622246 View attachment 622244
Has that blind top stitched binding I have still yet to try on a custom. Will one day…
One of my 'bucket list' hats, and just my size!

A busy day for internet work (I’ve had an internet job for 15 years). I’ve been hanging out at home with the other JBS 7X - the 70s or 80s non clear beaver one. I really like this hat!

RIP Liam Devlin - I mean Donald Sutherland. I might try to find the extended version of “The Eagle Has Landed” to watch tonight. It’s my birthday so it’s my choice of movies (what am I saying, I live alone! :D ).

Another make shift Whippet conversion. This was a Resistol Stagecoach that Bob Hufford saved from a yard sale and gifted to me. It was a small hat so I converted to a Whippetish clone. Ironically, the ribbon and brim binding came off another modern Whippet that a former Lounger gave to me. I've posted this before...

Side by side before / after pics, during pics, and me wearing the hat.
