What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

That soaking wet Lock and Co. is the winner for me this week. I like that hat anytime, but I LOVE it now with proof of its value.

What kind of trench are you wearing for the rain Stefan? Is it a wool blend or maybe cotton? I’m just learning my way around raincoat material. I purchased a pure cotton trench on eBay but I’m not satisfied enough so the search continues.
Thank you, Nathan. This time the rain caught me by surprise, so the coat I'm wearing there is just a cotton coat. I do have a Burberry trenchcoat I bought in a vintage store (no way I'm paying Burberry full retail prices). It's great in rainy weather, but it is a full length trench. I'm still looking for a somewhat shorter trench, which would be more practical I think.
Much as I like the Stetson 25 you were wearing, the Dobbs homburg takes the prize for me.

Great lineup, Stefan. The little brown HJ bowler makes a nice look.
Thanks, Joe. It was a neat find, very lightweight. Love the shape of that Resistol beaver 15 you were wearing.

The Borsalino Gorasgu for versatility, The Panizza Oro for it's class.
You do enjoy making it difficult Stefan, but don't stop. I love it!

Have a look at the hat that Tina has made from an old gent's Trilby.
It's on the: 'Show Us Their Hats," Thread.

Thank you, Robert. New ones to choose from the coming week. I knew of the magic in Tina's fingers when it comes to fabric, but it works equally well with felt too! Stellar work.
Looking your usual splendid self, Reggie. Great double breasted suit and a lovely homburg to make it complete.

Thanks, Stefan. You were donning quite an elegant Homburg yourself this past week.
What a fine homburg, Reggie. Looking sharp as usual
Thanks, Joe. You are looking pretty sporty in that Kitten finish Resistol too.

It was a busy week with medical procedures and family events, so it’s nice to have a day at home.

Stetson 25 for a walkabout this morning.

Now I am enjoying my coffee under a Dobbs homburg, hoping to finish up Dashiell Hammett’s THE MALTESE FALCON today.

Out and about today (once the unexpected morning rain stopped, thus garage pics) in the last one from my treasure trove last Monday. This one has had a rougher life than the others: verdigris staining on the headband and the felt, inside and out, generally dirtier than all the others in the bunch, and I think at some point someone tried to re-shape it by wadding it up and shoving it under a car seat. That last is hyperbole, of course, but it was a struggle just to get this one into "bang around in the yard/wear to fairs and flea markets" condition.

Herewith a grey, 50s-vintage, Adam Executive Quality, with a 2.75" brim, and a crown that's 4.25" at the crush, and 5" at the sides.

Echter Borsalino "Sandurbar" and the color is "Ossido", possibly 1920s. This Soft Felt was made for the German market. It originally had a crown patch and is in very good condition. I was lucky to find this Soft Felt back in 2022. Old Borsalino Soft Felts like this one are rare finds especially in normal and large sizes.
