Sometimes, you simply luck into deals that shouldn’t happen. One early morning last week, during my first-cup-site-scan, a chocolate 6X Stetson Open Road appeared, in my size, for an unimaginable price. After a quick scan to ensure the seller was legit and actually had feedback, I pulled the trigger. The hat arrived this afternoon; it is immaculate, and the brim has been tweaked just the TINIEST bit, and in a manner I absolutely approve of. Sometimes, it truly is better to be lucky than good. :D

My grandparents would always watch the Von Eric's every Saturday night at 10:30pm on local TV. Too bad the Sportatorium in Dallas is no more. It was really a part of Dallas history.
My god what a show! I’m glad you enjoyed it.

It was great fun. Now I’m watching the old Wrestlemanias. Just 39 years to catch up on! Lol.

What I need is a WrestleMania hat for next year - I can’t imagine much to compare to your Musketeers, though.

World Class was so much fun. They just put out a VonEric movie recently…. I havnt watched it yet…. But seeing clips of scenes recreating the look of the inside of that old Sportatorium got me in the pit of my stomach.

Is that the Iron Claw movie? I’m unfamiliar with those wrestlers - again, it must be the regional nature of wrestling for most of its history, I knew nothing about Texas wrestlers.

Fantastic Disney, btw Joe - it really suits you.

My older brother used to take me to the Sportatorium for wresting nearly every week. Got to see Fritz von Erich master of the Iron Claw in his prime. Note that Fritz started out as a villain type and later changed over to his "good guy" role.

The Sportatorium also hosted the Big D Jamboree, a music event similar to the Louisiana Hayride. Saw George Jones there once when he was so drunk they had to give him a chair because he couldn't stand up. My sister got to see an up and comer there by the name of Elvis (I was too young).

Nice old Disney, Joe and yes, my label looks like yours.

That colander shadow looks like fedora castings from a few of my more disappointing eBay finds.

Sometimes a fashion item comes along that feels like something I’ve been looking for all my life. I haven’t thought about penny loafers since I was ten years old in the mid-80s, but for some reason last week I decided to order a cheep pair to try out. They came in yesterday and boy am I in love!

Unfortunately I don’t have a great way to photograph my full body - the last photo is the best I can do right now. Kings Umbrella fedora, Florsheim penny loafers, Suitsupply linen blazer.

Edit: here’s a shot of the loafers and fedora. I wanted the beaf rolls since that was the popular style I remember from my childhood.

I went through several pair of penny loafers as a teen in the 80's. I'm pretty sure I inserted some shiny pennies in the penny slot, too. Great look, Nathan!

Thank you Nathan.. I really like it. That is the one. Back then it was territories…. Different promoters would mostly stay in their area. Vince McMahon and cable television changed all of that.

What a time and place. Would have loved to experience it in person.

In my research today I was reminded of WCW - Turner certainly had a part to play in that transformation.

I saw Vince McMahon is worth 2.9 billion dollars. Just wow.
