Borsalino Visone (mink)... a beautiful velour felt hat likely sold shortly before or shortly after the Second World War.

H.C. Capwell made by Caxton. Last time I had this one out I got caught in a downpour. I noticed today what looked like some color seepage from the ox blood ribbon. On closer inspection it appears it may have come from the wind cord as it only shows in areas touched by the cord. Very unusual.

Thank you Joe, and same for the Capwell. Too bad about the staining but it looks like the wind cord would cover it?Fabulous
Steve, Thank you! It's black so probably camera related.Wonderful Brüder Böhm velour, Steve. Love the wide ribbon.
What's the true colour? Looks midnight blue like on my phone.
Fantastic stamps, too. Great finds.

Thanks Nathan. Oh definitely it covers it fine.. because it was the culprit… I think. When poking and prodding I expected to find more staining under the ribbon but there was none. Thought for a moment it was due to gravity and length of time for the dye to drip down. Then I noticed it was only where the cord touched the felt And in the couple areas the cord wasn’t touching the felt. Like near the bow.. none. It is weird because the staining is similar color to the ribbon.. and the cord appears black.. But apparently it bleeds red. LOLThank you Joe, and same for the Capwell. A perfect hat…
Thank you guys. Between the efforts of @moehawk and myself, we managed to get it shaped up fairly well.Nice one, Joe!
Canadian Stetson Premier.
I'm finally back at it again after a short bout with some kind of flu or illness of some sort. I did a quick practice run on this 4X Stetson refurb. I don't know how I'd classify this one. I got the idea for this hat style from what I think was a Borsalino. It now sports a 6 inch open crown with a Center Dent and a 3 1/2 brim with a pencil curl. I did a thin ribbon with a Borsalino style bow work. I also gave the brim a slight swoop in the front.

I tried to look up this hat shop, but Ben created too much chaff.

Not sure of the age, but the sweat seems to indicate it was made in the last 2000 years or so.
