Good afternoon, Gentlemen. Dr. says I need to wear a hat. My prescription: Stetson OR 6x with a bit of reshaping.
1930s Dobbs Gilt Edge (not Guild)

Strangely, it’s the Dobbs name for a raw edge, and only seems to have been used in the ‘30s. Doesn’t fit the definition of gilt, but oh wellOK, what's a gilt edge?
You are rockin’ that OR, sir.Good afternoon, Gentlemen. Dr. says I need to wear a hat. My prescription: Stetson OR 6x with a bit of reshaping.

Thank you sir. The sun is no longer my friend. I have a Tilley with a neck flap for the worst days, but my wife hates it and demands that it be relegated to fishing, camping and the like. So, I'm trying to find options depending on the amount of sun and how long I'll be in it. Funny how ball caps have become ubiquitous, but proper hats are an oddity. Time to destroy that paradigm. You are rockin’ that OR, sir.

I can’t believe this never occurred to me until now, after reading your post. I co-founded and operated a medical billing service company for over 25 years, (until we sold it) yet I never thought of this. So, why couldn’t we submit our medically necessary (doctor ordered, with a CMN, or Certificate of Medical Necessity) hat costs? Medicare provides diabetics with one pair of shoes annually. Hats must be as important!
P. & C. Habig Wien "Special", P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität" Reine Handarbeit Berlin Friedrichstr. 82a possibly early 1930s. It was made specially for the P. & C. Habig Berlin store at Friedrichstrasse 82 which didn't survive WWII and is NOS condition. This has to be one of my best finds. I found this Homburg back in 2019.
The seller of this Homburg is the wife of Arnulf Meifert the original drummer of the progressive Krautrock band Faust. They live in a castle in Bavaria that belonged to her family. "Dr. M" was Arnulf Meifert's father who was a well known Berlin "bon vivant" of the 1920s and 1930s.
Habig Hüte, Berlin at Night, Friedrichstrasse-Lindenpassage (1928). P. & C. Habig Berlin store at Friedrichstrasse 82. front and center. I found this postcard back in 2012.
I can see why! Looks great David.Perhaps my favorite hat—Borsalino Gorasgu (sp?).

I’m always so intrigued by your Mode Edge with bound brim. I wonder if it was special ordered that way by a customer who wanted a Mode Edge “because it’s the best” but still wanted decorative binding. Or if it was offered that way at some point. Beautiful hat! And of course there is The Brock!I took my walkabout this morning under the brim of a Stetson 3xMode Edge fedora. The blue-gray felt appears more blue under today's Minnesota sunrise.
I enjoyed morning cold brew (Volcanca Costa Rica and farm sourced half and half) wearing a Brock.
Cheers on a sunny morning, Eric -
