Thanks! Off-the-shelf - I didn't ask, but I've heard Gus has stopped doing customs. I should have asked, though the price may have scared me. Gus did reshape the brim for me and we had a nice chat, which I enjoyed greatly.

A conversation with Mr. Miller is truly one of life's pleasures. Yeah, I phoned him a couple of weeks ago and he said he wasn't building hats anymore, but at his age, I can't blame him. Must be hell on the hands!

My first fur felt was a Selentino Sterling from Batsakes. After that, all hell broke loose, LOL.

Welcome (back) to the Lounge. Good to have another local in the group.

It is for sale in the Classified, but it doesn't seem to interestno one, so today I put it on and I kindly make the model for me and for those who want to see this hat.
Mvolga Borsa 3a.jpg

Borsalino Qualità Extra Extra Superiore size 6 or 59 and 7 3/8 in the States.
Mvolga Borsa 1b.jpg

Sold in my town Verona has arrived in excellent condition until now.
Mvolga Borsa 1a.jpg
The color and type of felt is "M. Volga" which stands for mixed, a mixture of fur and wool, and the Volga is a Russian river.
Mvolga Borsa 4.jpg

The color of the hatband is "Joe 24", but it is written in italics and the first letter could be another, because the Italian italics are difficult to decipher as the way of writing has changed over the years.
Mvolga Borsa 2a.jpg
The heather felt is with shades of gray and a short p which makes it fantastic to the touch and very malleable.
That's all for Verona - Italy. Have a nice day :)

Some wonderful hats this week. Potassium… interesting choice in a name for a hat. Certainly we can all use more in our diet or on our head ;)
If I want a hat in every colour Borsalino has ever made I would have even less space I have now!

Borsalino Lobbia on this grey, misty Sunday.

A touch of class on a dreary day, Steve.

A two hat Sunday…Borsalino

Approved!

@steur, I'm fortunate enough to have found two of these 3X's with the felted edge. They're fantastic hats.

Your lineup is great, as usual, this week.

Today, I was getting ready to grab a Mallory, but was distracted by this Knox Westlite.

Thanks, Jim. The Westlite is another fine hat (if only I can find where mine is hiding I could wear it).

Been wearing this Wolfbrae a lot since it arrived. It just fits perfectly.

Suits you well, Brent. Nice colour as well.

Nice line-up, Joe. Each with its own quirks, but the quality shines through.

Guilty I left a group of French hats inactive for two consecutive years.

Yesterday I decided it was time to get some fresh air.

View attachment 397586 It was difficult to wear a hat in the cold that has been constant in northern Italy for three weeks.
View attachment 397590
The first to appear is a Flechet size 60 or 7 1/2 in the USA.
View attachment 397587
I think it was made in the 1950s for the "lord hat" shape category which is often found in French hats.
View attachment 397591
Flechet Pilote, felt color is "Meuse" a medium-dark grey with some blue reflections

Have a nice Monday e a huge to everyone for the hats you showed in 2022 :)
Good to see you, Daniele. A very popular hat model in France back in the day it seems and a very nice example it is too. For a moment there I feared you would only be back after your rebel hair had grown back;)

Excellent hat, Perry.

Stetson Royal Deluxe Open Road.
Lovely hat, Rick. And sunshine: I remember that!

Finally a blast of cold air us here in Florida had me reach for some of my fuzzies. First one in honor of the LA Rams advancing and eliminating Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the NFL Playoffs. This dark brown Templeform “Genuine Italian Velour” that came sporting this cool Ram pin.

Then was the velvety smooth “Panda Felt” Lee Fifth Avenue

Panda felt: surely that must be illegal! Makes for a nice hat though.

The wardrobe department where I keep the French hats is also occupied by a few Tonaks and a few Italian hats.

Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore size 6 or 59 cm. or 7 3/8 across the Atlantic.
View attachment 397832
It is a hat that I have worn very few times because it is a tight 59 and only now that I have very, very short hair can I put it on and it fits perfectly.
View attachment 397833
I already have some other Borsalino in the same shape and finish Three stitches on the brim and pleated ribbon), this one is in a gray "Illio", of the Borsalino boast, quite rare to find.
View attachment 397834
The hatband color is "Asfalto - Asphalt" with shark gill bow.
View attachment 397836
The felt is medium-light and not very suitable for a cold and windy day like today, but in the central hours of the day it can go.
View attachment 397837 Thank you for your likes and compliments for showing hats even when the weather suggests nice wool caps pulled over the ears
Classic. Wonderful.

A hat with presence; super.

You pull it off with ease. Nice one.

Perfect hat for you, Brent.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Jota" "Seal Velour" made for the French Market, possibly late 1920s to mid 1930s. Stefan was beyond gracious in making this really fantastic Velour available to me. He brokered a deal with the French seller and packaged + sent the hat to me. I owe him a boat load of gratitude. I wasn't satisfied with the inside photos I took so those will come later. JHS Black Velour Hats are very difficult to photograph properly.

It's a more than gorgeous hat and I was happy to get it to the best possible home for it. Looking great, Steve.

Today I picked up my Derby from Gus at Batsakes, so that was obviously today's choice :)

Joe—I think I’m unlikely to ever experience a 25 up-close in real life. It looks beautiful—is the quality difference obvious?

David
Thanks David… truth is this one could use some work. It hides some of its imperfections in the photos. The brim has a little bit of a mind of its own.. I’m sure some steam might calm it down. I do need to compare some of my OR and OR style hats.. Stetson and others. The only thing I can say without hesitation is the 7XCB stands head and shoulders over the rest.

Date of manufacturing definitely plays a role in quality of Twenty Fives. Older ones generally better. This one managed to spark some debate on age. Some folks estimating anywhere from 50s to 70s.
