The December overcast skies don't do this midnight blue Schoble justice. The deep burgundy ribbon is the perfect accompaniment.

F.R. Tripler & Co. One of the many iconic department stores on Madison Avenue. Obviously not a hat maker themselves, so who did they source their in-house hats from? Anyone?

This is one of the quintuplet of hats I picked up from @PanosChris.

More photos to come in the Homburg Nation.

Nice catch, Steve. Classic colours and proportions. I think I'd be inclined to make the squarish looking brim shape more rounded myself, but it does offer some variation this way.

Hey all!
Chillin' like a villain in my go-to black hat, this Mossant from the 50's

Have a great day!
Nothing wrong with black hats; they deserve more love here. I like that Mossant did a lot of their hats unlined.

Finally got round to joining in the Stingymas festivities by wearing this Borsalino tiglio. Brim is 1.7 inches approx., so stingy indeed.

May the Stinge be with you :) View attachment 291210 View attachment 291211
Nice! Perfect with the coat, scarf and pocket square. Loads of bonus points, Steve.

Winter has finally reached the East Coast.

Gorgeous hat, Randall. Great blue colour.

1950s Stetson 3X Beaver Quality - Steel Grey
6 inch open crown - rakish 5 to 4 inch as shaped
1 7/8 Black Grosgrain Ribbon with Boxcar Bow treatment.
2 1/8 brim with 1/8 accented bound edge

The 2 1/8 brim on this 1950s Stetson 3X Beaver Quality may be stingy... but the crown at about 6 inches open certainly is not! With these proportions the crown was looking a bit stovepipe like. It seems whenever I pick this one up I’m working the crown wider and down a bit. It has a cool boxcar bow ribbon treatment. The steel grey felt has some blue tones to it and is a similar feel to my same period whippet.

That is some crown on that one, Joe. I'm getting Rocky and Mugsy vibes here:

Cool colour and the ribbon is great.

Wearing my latest hat project. I completely reworked this Melton. The hat sports a taller straight crown with a 2 5/8 bound snap brim. It's creased in my preferred Teardrop with a tight pinch.

I sewed on a new brim binding with a black 1 1/2 ribbon and bow. I gave the bow a slight upward swoop.

Fantastic work as always, Terry. Nice contrast between ribbon and brim binding. Beautiful hat.

Hey all!
They say every black cloud has a silver lining. Not so with black hats, although some, like this Lee, have a Silver Label.

If the black hats are a theme, I'm all for it, John. That Lee is another winner!
C. G. Wilke Velour possibly late 1920s. Great Velour plus Form. Also difficult to photograph.

You beat me to it with a great example, Brent. We've had a great Stingy week courtesy of Joe @Blare
Next week we need to go big, real big, and make it a big brim week!

Another great refurb, Terry.
That one oozes quality, Randy!

I was planning to join the Stingyness with one of my Christys’ trilbies but neither of them worked with what I was wearing. I was, however, happy to don my Brummel’s homburg that came to me from Stefan. I don’t wear this hat often, but it is right up there vying for number one in my collection. There's a lot of quality in that one, Gary. Works well with the coat. Your wife has the combination down like nodbody's business!
It is green and is one of the latest purchases, so the series of greens continues before Christmas.

Barbisio Classic size 59 cm. or 7 3/8 US.
View attachment 291447
The color of the felt is "Soana" The valley which lies below the Gran Paradiso, north-west of Sagliano Micca, the place of production of the company founded by the Barbisio family in 1862.
View attachment 291448 The felt is of medium consistency and can be easily modeled without the use of steam.
The shape and styling is the one in vogue in the Fifties when they looked for alternatives to the classic hat in Italian production, even if this had already been done before World War II.

The finishes, as always in historical Barbisio, are of the highest quality

I want to thank all those who expressed their appreciation yesterday and today for the French and Italian hats I showed. Have a nice Sunday
The finishing on that hat are stunning. The brim stitching and the elaborate ribbon lift it up to another level.

Good morning. Yesterday afternoon was outside chore time. I wore a Cordova Cap (Carhart material) work cap. I wore ear protection tipped so that the band was on the back of my head and it worked great.

The contrasting wind cord is a cool touch, but I have to give it to the Lee though. Gorgeous hats, Eric.

Thank you, Daniele. The Panizza lobbia is very similar in shape to the Barbisio Ticino; a lucky find for sure. The Borsalino Caffe is actually a coffin box hat, but it came out fantastic.

Thanks, Stefan. I was thinking the same, too. Told Panos that I was looking forward to taking some steam to it. Now, for the time being, I'm more inclined to keep it squarish. It'll be a variation on a theme. I can always change it if my mind changes. That's the beauty of hats :)
