As I usually only post on weekends, it’s unlikely that anyone has missed me, but I have certainly missed you all. For the last three days, I’ve been away on a school trip with our 6th graders. A school trip in the midst of a pandemic is a weird thing. Meals eaten in silence at individual tables all facing in the same direction. Masks worn at all other times. One of my duties is photography. It’s pretty challenging when the facial expressions that are usually the highlight of the photos are covered up.
Anyhow, I did have the joy of wearing this spectacular creation, maker unknown in a perfect plastic and nylon blend with a bit of sponge thrown in for good measure. It features an adjustable (plastic) hat band that ensures a perfect fit no matter who you are.

This hat is, in fact, quite famous in Japan as our high school (I’m in the primary school) has appeared in the baseball nationals more than any other in Japan.

Looks like good fun even if it has to under different and difficult circumstances. Just don't let anyone know that it was the Austrians that made that fine hat.

Thanks, Michael.

I really like the colours on that one and the double stitched brim binding.
Thanks Stefan. It's one of my favorites for style if not for condition.

Thanks Dave. You've been sporting some mighty fine hats lately.

Thanks,
Michael

would appear Henry H. Roelofs and Co. was in business from at least the 1890s until 1914
, becoming just Roelofs Hats around 1917, Guyer-Roelof @ 1920 and back to Roelof in the 1930s.

Thanks Dave. Yes I believe Roelofs merged with Guyer around 1917. Henry Roelofs was married to the daughter of John Stetson and if I’m not mistaken they lived next door to each other. That however is the limit of the hat connection between Roelofs and Stetson

And this Knox Superfine Homburg for dinner festivities. The last birthday gift from my mom before she passed this summer. A little bit of her with me this Thanksgiving. I hope everyone is having a safe and Happy Thanksgiving

Yesterday afternoon and this morning found me actually out in public. A grocery shopping run had me spiffying up to go in public. A 1930's Canadian Brock fedora was my choice for the "exciting outing."

This morning a run to pick-up meat at the butcher found me wearing public attire. A 1930's Borsolino fedora was my head gear choice.

What in the pre-pandemic days were "errands" are now "adventures."
