Century plus old Roelofs for a little unplanned garage cleanup today after water heater apparently ruptured. Luckily not an explosive massive leak... but I definitely enough. Have my work all lined up for me now. Surprisingly Lowes is only carrying one brand of water heater these days... so not much decision to be made on the replacement.

So, Austin has been on virus lockdown for a week now, unsure when this will be lifted. $1000 fines for non-essential outings. (not like anyone is enforcing it) Grocery store or medical necessity only. So, its yard work, puzzles, dog training, watching every James Bond movie ever made, lots of mimosas and tequila. Cold and rainy too. This really sucks. Maybe time for a hats and wrinkled jammies thread. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. View attachment 223889

Absolutely. I like to try to figure out the thin ribbons whether they are Stratoliners or not. One movie I saw from the forties (I can't for the life of me remember the name) had a guy wearing a Strat and the pin was still in it.

Yes I first noticed the pin in the 1943 film Shadow of a Doubt, back in 2008.
Sadly the photos are gone but this is the best I could find.

Last evening I was outside in a 7X Clear Beaver gray 50's Stetson. Excellent felt!

Perambulated this morning in a vintage Lee Adventurer. This unlined charcoal felted fedora is one of the only hats I have with a feather.

That is very cool. I'll have to see if I can find that movie and break out the '41 Strat with the pin and show the wife when that scene comes up. That drives her crazy.......

Today....following up on yesterday’s mention of similarities to a Mallory The Dallas, guided me to such the hat. Another soft hat with a natural crease reminiscent of a classic @40Cal diamond. By NO means near the iconic art but suggestive of the Diamond King’s.
For those of you who don’t know “the look”, it is a signature sadly missed around here. Imho
