Dobbs Fifteen. Another homburg conversion that I done over ten years ago, but until last night had a raw edge. Now sporting hand sewn bronze binding. I’ve seen this color combination used before and decided this fedora would benefit from the same.

Though this is my third time sewing on binding my stitching on this one is the worst, however, using 100% polyester grosgrain is hard to deal with. At least I’ve proven this cheaper product can be used if needs be. The secret to getting it to lay flat on a round plane is to wet it then iron it into a circle while folded in half.
Not being able to find the coveted vintage cotton/rayon stuff in a wide array of colors forced me to use the poly, but it turned out looking good enough for my purpose on this hat.

This beautiful cold (for us) day called for the Rogers-Peet (Mac Lachlan) Aka Rogers Hall of Fame hat. And.. I figured with such fine felt.. why not attempt the Tres Deuce X crease. It is funny.. I was thinking of trying something like this.. but couldn’t remember what it looked like or what it would even be called.. and out of the blue Neal posted over on Facebook about this crease. My query apparently went out to the universe instead of google. I’m sure I didn’t get it just right.. but it is fun to try!

Enjoying this fuzzy velour-like chocolate brown Cavanagh in this cool breezy day here in South Florida. A really soft and comfy hat. The overwelt brim is done very nicely with tiny stitching that blends fairly well into the fuzzy felt and creates really a “poor man’s” Cavanagh edge.

Great job on the Tres Deuce Joe. I saw Kevin from JJ's do that on YouTube and have thought about trying it myself...

Love that Hat !

Great job on the binding Randall ! I haven't had good luck with the Polyester, but Man, you are right about trying to find vintage stuff in the colors / sizes wanted. I'm still trying to find the right copper color for the Dobbs Twenty. I was thinking about getting a natural color and try to die it with Ritz.
