Thanks, Joe. I so hope to be able to go back to Tapatalk, though.
I definitely enjoyed the app feel to Tapatalk .. and that all your notifications come in on home page if you like... so on mobile devices it feels like Facebook or other social media apps though it definitely was glitchy.

This way is a lot more old school... but getting used to it. Also I find it easier to search the site via web browser.

glad you are coming around to it Steve

I completely agree. It’s like going back to DOS after getting used to Windows. Tapatalk made navigation and posting easier and the whole experience was more pleasurable. I hope they can get the issues resolved.
DOS rocked...you had to know how to talk computer and not just point and click. The dance was elegant, melodic, you had to know where you were going and not “play-solve”, plus you could go outside for a smoke, etc while it ran without anyone bustin your b***s
GUI was the beginning of the want it now society. That and McDonalds. Lol
Back in my cave.

Ps:edit. Gonna switch off on these two Gorasgu for you to view and woo, i do. See back on topic and melodic. Ha

Lol B .
Maybe we should go back to sending letters to each other with Polaroids of our hats. Anyone looking for a pen-pal

Wearing the Disney Twenty today after re-doing the ribbon. I didn’t really want it this wide, but whatever got on the original one bled through onto the felt and was up above the old ribbon, so I had to use a 2” to cover it up. I even tried a Naphtha bath, but no luck, it’s almost like it was bleached.

Did a Shark Gill with Dog Ears, and think it turned out pretty good for my first one. Learned some things to improve on the next one....

Wonderful job, Tim. I'm still struggling with even a basic bow!

Despite the fact that this hat hangs in a prominent place, I haven't had it on my head in way too long.

Happy Thin Ribbon Thursday!
It deserves to be in the spotlight more. Very nice.

Beautiful, Brent. Looks pristine.

Yet another shark gill pleated bow...

A time capsule hat showcasing the beautiful attention to detail by Borsalino. Many mysteries - falero? nadirsca, visone (made with mink, or used to describe the luxurious feel of the velour?). W.E. Baber of Burlington Colo. lives on in a 1948 journal containing a pictogram of his livestock brand. I will have to hire Columbo to find out more.

If he can find any more of them he's hired!

My widest ribbon at 2 inches. A grey and purple Dobbs.

Wide ribbons rock!

I landed an excellent Mallory Nokabout this week. Aristocrat quality with the Cravanette water-resistant treatment and a vapor barier behind the sweatband.
I believe it's late 50's but it is solid all the way; felt, ribbon, leather, lining AND stitching!
That's really nice because I've had some threads popping lately on more than one vintage hat. View attachment 209642 View attachment 209643 View attachment 209642 View attachment 209643 View attachment 209644
I was wondering who got that one. I did bid, but forgot to raise my max bid on it. You got a great deal on that one I believe. Lovely hat.

Thank you all for your replies to my troubles being a part of the FL. The issue is still not resolved. Seems I can "Like", but not quote and reply.

The internet and social media websites would soon have died out if this is how it had been back in the day. Too slow, too much hassle, not worth the trouble!

I'm still wondering what is the FL's beef with Tapatalk?

Hats off to you all, my friends - Steve
Good to see you, Steve. And in that wonderful topper too. Hope to see you back more often one way or another. It can be done.
View attachment 209720 View attachment 209717 View attachment 209716 My new 40s Wormser. Finally got a dove gray hat. Been looking for one for many years. This one 7 3/8 LO and fits perfectly. It’s nice to not have to stretch one. Shrunk over time to fit me just right. The Seinfeld show calls it, “shrinkage” I’d buy all of my vintage hats in this size, if it didn’t cost an arm and a leg! This one: $140, which ties my highest purchase price of a 40s Mallory a few months ago.
Well, not a cheap hat maybe. But in your size they are hard to find and it does look very good.

Have a great day!
Looks like a crafty critter, John. Nice!

Some shady character wearing a Borsalino Gorasgu was at my front door tonight:

Well, hit him over the head and grab his hat next time he shows up! O, and grab his coat too!:)

A vintage Borsolino Misto was my hat choice for an early afternoon meeting.

Best, Eric -
I get a bit misto eyed every time I see one! Can't beat them.

The other velor of the NZ-Netherlands-Italy exchange.

Huckel "Incroyable seal velour" probably size 59 or 60 cm.
View attachment 209825
The hat has, unfortunately, lost the paper label that is still in position for a piece that does not give many indications.
Without lining it has only one tip in the part of the crown that reads as follows: Huckel Incroyable Seal Velour
View attachment 209826
The felt is incredibly light and the color extremely variable, like all velours, in shades of brown
View attachment 209827
It is a pleasure to wear it on my head and it is perfect for the cold that has returned to Italy in what are called "I giorni della merla" (the days of the female blackbird), in the tradition the coldest days of the year
View attachment 209829
A huge thank you to my exchange mates: Wayne in NZ and Stefan In Netherlands
Thanks for the likes on the E&T. Buona giornata
Glad to see this came about and what a great looking velour it is too. Such nice hats to wear (and handle).
