I'll Lock Up

H&R:Today I wore the ultralite Parkway. The softest, lightest, most malleable felt I own or have owned.
Unfortunately, even that could not cheer me up.
I woke up yesterday to a text from my brother in law that he had called the ambulance after not being able to wake my younger sister at 3 AM, and that she was admitted to the hospital from the ER. She left work last Tuesday because of severe headaches which persisted unabated into Wednesday, when she scheduled an appt. with a family practice, which was a new one because of a job and insurance change.
At the Thursday morning visit the doctor said it was a viral infection which would have to run its course, prescribing narcotic cough syrup to help her sleep. Jim had driven her there, so took her home and went to work. When he got home she was sleeping. He thought that was good. She needed the rest. Friday morning she was sleeping soundly and he left her undisturbed, going to work.
Friday evening she was sound asleep when he got home and he became concerned. He called the doctor and was assured everything was fine. Give it a couple more days.
At 3 AM noticced her breathing was very shallow so got up, checked phone and laptop, and the cough syrup. She'd had one dose of the latter, and no communication with anyone since 2 PM Thursday. She wouldnt wake up.
She was in a coma, and may have been since Thursday. By 10 AM the diagnosis was confirmed as meningitis and her blood pressure was dropping. Platelets in her IV feed stanalized the blood pressure, and we at the hospital relaxed a little, while we updated relatives around the country.
In the evening her eyes were found to be dilating, indicating swelling of the brain. We were told she migjt not make it through the night
A vigil of prayer followed, and when her vtals remained unchanged in the morning, we sighed in relief, however when the attending doctor arrived at 8 AM and examined her we learned the brain swelling was undiminished. She would prbably not revive from the coma . If she did, it would be with significant brain damage.
I'm home now for a shower and power nap, but will then return to the hospital where we will admit her to hospice.
Prayets for my family from any loungers who talk with with the Man Upstairs would be very welcome.

Will pray for her recovery, guidance for the medical staff and your peace. Never give up!
