A nice tip of the hat & dedication! In the last couple of yrs Honor Flights for WWII veterans to the monument in Washington DC have really picked up & well covered on local news. World News Tonight has been conducting interviews this wk of surviving D-day Veterans. I believe tonight they will be present at Normandy Beach for the 75th comemeration.

A loving tribute Yamahana.
World leaders are marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day today at a large gathering in Normandy. Macron, Trump, May etc.have been making speeches. Veterans are being honoured and those who sacrificed their lives are being thanked and remembered. Wall to wall coverage here on tv in Europe. It's definitely not forgotten over here.

Thanks for the kind words. I did hear some of the commemorations going on today in between work breaks. Pres Trump gave a moving speech today one of his best.

1924 A.E. @ 8 years, John @ 14 years

My grandfather was killed in a mining blast 7 days before my father was born. So his older brother John was not only a father figure but as an immensely strong gentle giant was also his boyhood hero that could do anything. D-Day has always been a day of significance in my family and used to be worldwide. Sadly I don’t even see it noted on the calendar anymore. My father completed his tour of 35 missions as a B-17 tail gunner. He and his brother John are both hero’s of mine. So today I tip my hat to the greatest generation ever born and those who sacrificed all 75 years ago today.

I appreciate their service! It makes me happy to see the recognition that these hero's deserve! Unfortunately, there are some that are unaware of the sacrifices made for their freedom.
