Returning to Israel (finally) after a long summer away. Heading there via Athens with 5 hats in tow. While 4 are encased in the check-in luggage, this reblocked '36-'53 era Borsalino will be making the trip with me personally.

As the tag shows it was originally a Punti 4 that was resized to about a 5 1/2. The Freemason Hat Works of Norfolk, VA did a terrific job (before I ever owned it), likely removing size from the brim to block up a size and a half. The proportions are great for travelling.

H.C. Capwell Oak Brook made by Caxton Hats. This one came to me via @moehawk a couple years back. An interesting thing happened with this one…. After a downpour I had noticed a thin line of reddish discoloration on the felt right below the ribbon. At first I had thought the ribbon had bled. Turned out it was the wind cord that had bled. That was a first! Love this hat though.. super comfortable to wear.

You are right, Freemason Hat Works did a terrific job re-blocking that Borsalino, what a good looking hat, I love it.
A few years ago my wife and I did the Holy Land Pilgrimage. We were on a cruise out of Cyprus, one day was given for The Holy Land tour. The security was incredible, polite but very formal, made me feel most uncomfortable. Nonetheless, it was some day, well worth the passport and security formalities.

The bespoke Susquehana today, we are meeting our legal eagle at the offices of our estate agents. There's some formality about our house purchase that needs our attendance. A text from the estate agent read: "Keep it informal."
Tina made the bowtie from an off-cut of the Aloha shirt that she made for me.

If that informal did formal mean a morning coat or other tails? Looking sharp, as usual.

A mixed weather day called for a robust felt. Here’s a Cavanagh “second” that I came upon as a surprise inside of a hatbox purchase. I love surprises!

Do the right thing…
I've heard of buying the hat and getting the box by surprise, but that's a first. I should start looking at boxes and stop spending so darn much on hats.

Hat is a sloppy factory attempt at hiding the “Cavanagh Edge” debossed label, I think.
Ooookayyy - got it - because it is a second. I’ll get there eventually if I try all the options lol.

Hat looks awesome to me - including that edge - so you see anything “second-ish” about it? If I may ask.

I see noth-ING!
Any flaws on this lid are small enough that I missed them. Maybe I was just so gobsmacked at the facts that:
It was there,
It was at least quite wearable,
It’s a Cavanagh,
IT’S MY SIZE!
