It's got a shark gill ribbon but alot of patina. Not sure if it's worth replacing or just leave it alone?

Must be one of the finest beaters ever, Nathan.

It's the overall shape and the colour of that wide ribbon that rocks my boat. Love it!

I prefer the term “character“ ;)
Thanks guys. I know it's just because it's a stingy brim that I'm not so attached to it. If only the brim were 1/8 inches larger I would love it - and baby it more.

That's the trouble with these old hats: the less I care, the more they wear. If it's a beloved, I hide it away!

Nathan, I tend to favor my stingy-brims but as I always say, there really are very few "wrong" ways to do this hat hobby of ours. Indeed, I just created a new forum thread called "Show us your knockaround hats".

I do the same. Try as I might, it’s a habit I can’t seem to get out of.. That said, I’m with the others. How I’d love to have a beater like that! It’s the ribbon colour and width, and how it works with the felt colour that does it for me.

Dull hazy overcast here this morning... figured it needed a bit of color. This one began life as a nondescript 3x Stetson western big boy. Knocked off the dirt, did some brim trimming, reshaping, and added a wider ribbon. Bit more of a town hat than a western now

Rick said:"Dull hazy overcast here this morning..." That hat really does add some colour. Love the ribbon contrast. Our recent wet weather has given way to seeing a return of the sunshine, I am making the most of it. The bespoke Susquehana tops off today's attire on a really glorious day.
