Celebrating a new Homburg in the stable today. I didn't even brush it, it fit so nice out of the box from Holland, I wore it to the store. 1930s Hut Schick from Austria in a beautiful dark olive green. Looks black until the sunlight hits it. Felt is most likely hare, soft as a baby's patootie. I'll get some more detailed images this evening. A quick Google translation of Hut Schick = Chic Hat, it certainly is.

That’s a clean looking Hommie, Red. A true classic.

I fail to see the ugliness in that hat.
Or were you talking about something else?

Haha, thanks! It actually cleaned up pretty well with some steam and a brush compared to when I first received it. The seller said it was grey but after cleaning it I see a bit more of a brownish hue.

Today's pics actually make it look pretty good, but it has it's issues. The liner is pretty stained and worn through in a couple spots, and there are quite a few moth nibbles throughout the body. I asked the seller about mothing before buying it, but he obviously was unfamiliar with the term as he told me there wasn't any evidence (or just flat out lied). The bash is also kind of wonky. I was able to improve it after the steam, but it still needs some work. Old memories are hard to remove. Once I learn some more and gain self confidence in maintenance/repair I'll probably use this hat for practice.

All in all it's a good serviceable hat. I got it cheap and knew it would take a little TLC to make it presentable. I plan to wear it with my trench coat in rainy weather, but as I was walking out the door today I just had the urge to give it some love in the sun.

Very nice, Steve. I like the deep black and contrasting ribbon and brim binding. Lutra translates as "otter"; is there any other indication or information that this is an otter felt?
Stefan, Thank you! The "Lutra" name goes back to JHS. I am fairly certain Otter fur was never used. It's probably related to the finish, similar to "Seal Velour". Super looking Maviso Homburg from you today!
