Just another day at work in an Akubra. My Angler got called up off the bench today.

We are up early, well I am, to get ready for today's Hat Festival. https://www.bridporthatfest.org/ Eccentric? Oh yes. Typically British? Absolutely. Good fun? You had better believe it.

My bespoke hat will probably be the only one there that's been made to measure. Looking at photos of last year's event, there are some seriously wacky hats to be seen. I might bring a photo or two home with me.

Superb!

Resistol Western, XXX Beaver.

The softness of the felt definitely reveals the beaver mix.

The temperature lowered some, and the grey sky seemed to suggest this was the hat to wear today.

You make it look easy, Steve. Eastern Denmark, western hat.
Not the finest montecristi in my collection, but pretty fine and one of the prettiest, I think. It must have had an interesting tropical early life (1940s, perhaps) and retains a small open wound which has been treated as best as I could.

Thanks everyone! The whole family is really excited. We weren't sure this would ever happen as all three of our kids have said they didn't plan to have children. My baby girl (this girl's momma) turned 35 in the last month of her pregnancy.

Of course I have purchased the granddaughter's first good hat -- a Rand's 10X. Although it will be a while before she fits it.

The foray back into my Akubra collection continues.

Last weekend I sized down my original Federation IV (purchased back when I had a lot of hair) and finally got the sweatband in a few days ago.

I like this hat even better without the ribbon.

Losing Jimmy Buffett is slightly easier on such a fine afternoon, especially watching the start of college football with family helps. His music has been a big part of my life.

RIP Jimmy.

Scala “Panama” (made in Panama, not Ecuador).

10th Commandment:
God recorded the 10th Commandment for us in Exodus 20:17:

“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his servants, nor his ox, or his donkey.” The 10 Commandments are listed again in Deuteronomy 5, the order of the items not to be coveted is slightly different (wife before house), which argues against breaking this into two commandments as the Catholics do.

Thankfully there is no mention of coveting hats, or to be more precise, hatbands. What then is covet? A desire to possess (something, especially something belonging to another.) I'm loving, read that as coveting, that fabulous hatband,

Great to see the T&W Lees Western out and about, Stefan. Hat of the week for me. Mind you, I am somewhat connected to it so I'm not entirely an impartial judge
