I love everything about this hat! I know it’s not for everyone, but that would be a top 5 for me. Thanks for making my day!
This one definitely is a top shelf hat for me. Magnificent piece of felt that up until that old Stetson I recently acquired was unmatched. I actually thought I was getting a grey hat based on the seller's pics:
IMG_4324.jpg

Imagine my surprise when I opened the box. I could only giggle in delight.

That’s a beauty! But damn you for planting a seed. I keep checking the Real McCoy and Freewheelers. The leather is pretty steep, but there’s a very cool Real McCoy railroad coat that appeals.
What do you pay for good condition second hand Real McCoy leather in the States? How about their pea coats?
I'll send you a PM some time this weekend regarding the leather.

Nice day, somewhat cold. I went to pick up an old camera from repair and felt the December chill.
View attachment 387954
The hat that accompanied me is a "Grosso Valz - Casa fondata nel 1886" in the Cervo valley north of Biella
View attachment 387955
It is one of my favorite hats as it has it all: proportions, color and finishes to be a champion.
View attachment 387956
It comes directly from the 30s of the last century.
View attachment 387957
The felt is heavy and fairly malleable, the color is "Moka" and the ribbon accompanies the color of the felt.
View attachment 387958
This Grosso Valz is rarely used and put to sleep with all the precautions to keep it.
View attachment 387959
Thank you all for your kind likes, which I reciprocate.
Ah, I forgot, we are always in the parade of warm colored hats
Daniele, This old Grosso Valz is such a great hat and a rare find. I remember looking at it closely at your studio. Thanks for wearing it again. Looks fantastic!

I confess that the cold this morning is remarkable and the sun you see is the very first of the day.
The fog has been licking the southern part of the city for days without reaching the hills.
View attachment 388440 The hat has been a puzzle since it came to my collection.
View attachment 388441
The seller told me they belonged to an aunt of hers who had a shop closed immediately after the war, she didn't know anything else.
View attachment 388442
It is an Albertini - Argo made in Intra which on 4 April 1939 was united with the municipality of Pallanza under the name of Verbania
View attachment 388443
Albertini was one of the first "modern" Italian hat makers, founded in 1817 on Lake Maggiore in an area that later gave life to hats made on the lake (Panizza, Albertini and other minor ones)
Very beautiful, simple and with a workmanship that is typical of the Thirties, I still wonder what age it has
View attachment 388445
Happy Saturday everyone and thanks for the appreciation that is reciprocated.
Daniele, What a great looking hat and rare find! I enjoy hats that have such mystery.

On the Sixth Day of StingyMas

Champ Long Hair Black Heather
4 7/8 Crown as shaped
3/4 silver grosgrain mid ribbon
1 7/8 inch under welt brim

This medium/long hair black heather Champ was gifted to me some time back by Randy @Rmccamey It is an unusual but beautiful very soft and petable black felt with hints of white, blue, green, yellow and red heathered into the mix. Randy had Rick at Phoenix hats replace the ribbon with this silver mid ribbon. I think it was an excellent choice as it really makes it pop…. And gives it somewhat of a Playboy vibe. Thank you to Randy for this Very cool hat.

Excellent, Jeff. No surprise I'm going for the homburg.

Also, tis the season, I suppose.
View attachment 387141
You manage to pull it off without effort. Nice!

The best of the row. @ I gusti di Daniele
Thank you, Daniele. It did have the advantage of some sunshine to make it look extra good.

Y'know, if ol' Charlie was wearing this hat when he walked into the Dew Drop, they would have chased him out before he took it off.
A well behaved hairy beast (I'm talking about the hat here:D). Excellent!
Fabulous parade this week Stefan
Thanks, Joe.

Today in Verona is the feast of young and old. It is Santa Lucia who brought the gifts on the magical night. The tradition worked again this year and for my daughter the "plate" of Santa Lucia arrived via photography :)
View attachment 387330
For me, the gift came from Panos a few days ago from Norway. A magnificent night blue velour Bantam
View attachment 387331
The Bantam brand is owned on this side of the Atlantic by the Cappellificio Cervo, but the hat, despite the brand, seems to be made in Germany or Austria
View attachment 387333
Beautiful and the shape is that of a hat from before the Second World War.
View attachment 387334
However, the puzzle is not solved...
View attachment 387335
Thanks to Panos who performed the task of Saint Lucia ;)
You must have a warm spot in Saint Lucia's heart, Daniele! Fantastic hat.

Fantastic!

Very nice. Good shape to that hat.

Yesterday was a busy day for us. Art Fawcett for morning services.

Knox Tom-n-Jerry for Xmas party last night. Oh yeah, there was an ugly sweater contest.

If it would have been a beautiful hat contest you'd have won!

A few raindrops on the brim. Rain is a special occasion here.

This hat is off for some well-deserved TLC to get it ready for another 60 years.
It deserves it: it's up there with the very best.

Whoa! That is a few levels up, Justin! Incredible.

In solidarity with my shorter brim loving friend @Redfokker Michael Dicianna, last year we decided to start the new holiday tradition of StingyMas…. A celebration of beautiful stingy brim hats that… too.. were made with quality and style like their larger brimmed brothers… To spread stingy brim cheer to all the good boys and girls of Fedora Lounge Land.

So with that I present…

The Eleven Days of StingyMas

Why eleven… instead of.. oh say… twelve? Because eleven is STINGIER than twelve.

I will kick off the celebration with my always at the ready Borsalino Marque Grand Luxe XXXXX

View attachment 387473 View attachment 387474 View attachment 387475 View attachment 387476

MERRY STINGYMAS!!
Off to a good start, Joe. As most of my hats are considered stingy by some members here, I'll just keep going with my usual hats.

Two hat and a beret day today. Seen a few of these Marathons racing around the forum lately, so a Marathon seemed appropriate for the morning trip to the bus stop:
View attachment 387545 View attachment 387546

Felt deadly handsome in this Lee homburg this evening, courtesy of @deadlyhandsome. Now I know how Brent feels every day. Wish I could say I wore it to date night, but instead it was to a local meetup to sell a hat:
View attachment 387547 View attachment 387548

Maybe with one less hat in the house that date night might come sooner.
A date or a hat? It depends on the hat and the date of course, but that's a touch one! Marathon is nice, the homburg is great!

Day made of examinations on the gifts received from Saint Lucia.
View attachment 387603
In the riot of chocolate, nougat, dried figs and more I thought about wearing a hat that's wide for my head, but so beautiful to be worn with the thicknesses to keep it in trim
View attachment 387604
Borsalino Qualità Victoria, size is 7 so a 61 cm. made in the sixties.
View attachment 387605
The color of the felt is "Aureola - Aureole" and the color of the ribbon is "Bulgaro - Bulgarian"
View attachment 387606
The ribbon that surrounds the brims is the same color as the felt in the odor of sanctity :)
View attachment 387613
The Borsalino arrived new directly from the Merano shop "M. Hutter"
View attachment 387615
Thanks for the likes and appreciation.
I'm sorry, but I can't comment on all the beautiful hats I see every day. I try to do my best, but something always escapes me, however congratulations to everyone;)
Spectacular!

Good morning. I selected my unlined pre-40's Borsolino early morning, in the dark, for a dog soirre.

i-gZbVB7C-M.jpg

After arriving home I noticed that the ribbon treatment got wrinkled when stored in a stack of 4 hats. Off to the hat steamer goes the Borsolino.

That is one to be cherished!
They deserve some more recognition: excellent hats!

A beauty, Jim. Ticks all the boxes.

Seeing that one always makes me happy, Greg. Such a marvelous hat.

Continues, even today, the presentation of hats in warm shades (the palette of warm colors par excellence) which will continue until all hats of this category are exhausted.
View attachment 387810
Today it is the turn of another Borsalino, helped in his presentation by a magnificent day of sun.
View attachment 387811 I took a walk along the Adige and the Renaissance and then Austrian walls with an example of the production of the Casa di Alessandria of the Sixties.
View attachment 387812
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore with the curious color of the felt called "Albino" and the color of the ribbon is "Folco" the finish of the felt is short-fur with great malleability for a splendid felt.
View attachment 387813
This is a hat that I had almost forgotten because it is part of the Borsalino section with brown and beige colors which is almost as infinite as that of the grays:)
View attachment 387814
Thanks for your appreciation and greetings in mid-December from a Verona with winter light.
Beautiful hat, Daniele. I have a feeling the presentation could take many months;)

Nice!

Always a winner, that one, Jim.
Sun and positive temperatures after who knows how long...Time for a brake from the blacks. I hope you don't mind.

Sools upbrim in grey that my friend Daniele sent me earlier this year. Probably late 20s/early 30s View attachment 387879

It speaks for itself, Panos. The sweatband treatment is a nice touch.

Yep, that works. Gorgeous hat, Brent.

Borsalino Caesar Qualita Speciale

Another of my always at the ready grab and go stingies. I think it’s fitting that this hat which more than likely spent most of its life shoved into a Borsalino coffin box now spends all its time either on the rack on on my head.

Wonderful hat, Dave. Need to find myself a cobalto.

Echter Borsilino "Qualità Superiore" probably later 1930s. Snap Brim, Mélange plus Rough Finish. I believe this the only one from the time period I have encountered.

While we're filling out wish lists: that one is on there for sure. Gorgeous hat, Alan.
