Too good, Brent. Don't tell Rick @humanshoes but I think he has a "waiting list" (hint, hint, nudge, nudge) even if he doesn't have a waiting list.

I haven’t pressured Rick, but I have a list of hats ready to go if he ever starts taking orders again. I wonder if the weight of a large queue and meeting everyone’s expectations was more trouble than it was worth. Hat making is hobby number twelve of thirty-six for him. :)

Oops! Put this in the wrong thread last night. Let’s try again…
I went with my wool Hornskov today. The felt is clearly a level or six below my beaver Hornskov, but it’s soft and malleable. I’ve gotten rid of my other modern wool felts, but I enjoy wearing this one.

Akubra Cattleman to smoke/dry some habaneros and grill some hambagels.

No time to make my own burger buns, so I picked up some frozen bagels at a local supermarket. You make do with what western foods you can get in Japan. The hambagels were great!

Deep autumn is coming. The fog was almost near the hills this morning

Shy sun in the middle of the day and so today we help Panos in his parade of antique hats.

Thibet made in France sold by the "A. Meer" hat shop in Strasbourg in the thirties or maybe earlier, who knows.

Felt is wool and thick, a lot malleable.

The shape is very particular, the crown is wide, high and round with the right brims to maintain the proportions.
Ribbon to match the felt, without lining, has a medium weight.

Have a nice Friday
Always good to see a survivor hat like that, Daniele. They provide a more reliable insight in what was predominantly worn back in the day, I think.

They are pretty much all grey fedoras for me—trying to branch out a bit but why turn your back on the thing that makes you happy?

Thanks to @BobHufford for parting with this Royal Stetson, I suspect from the early 1960s. With a 2 3/8 brim and a factory tear drop crown it is a great hat to wear to the office or just around the neighborhood.

Cheers,

David

Very nice, David. Grey is by far the colour I have most hats in, almost twice as much as any other colour. It looks good and pairs well with almost anything.

Went with the Lee GP clone to see Smokey Robinson the other night. WOW what a performance. Amazing energy from A man 81 years old… a year after COVID almost killed him. His voice still incredible… and really intricate arrangements where he had to be spot on. We really enjoyed it.

Very cool, Joe. Didn't know he still performed!

Gray Disney that flashes green overtones in certain lighting. Yesterday's delivery from ThoOldFashioned.
Excellent Disney (never mind the green tones:)) and nice coat and scarf, Tom. The whole package.

Stetson No. 1
Whoa, that's a killer hat, Brent! Fabulous.

Next in the old-black series, another European

Huckel, fur felt from ww1 era or slightly older, I found a few months ago.

Very thin felt and extremely soft. I was aiming for a center dent only, but I found this to serve posting/FL purposes only. Being this soft, it should have been used with deep side pitches for the guy to grab the crown when putting on/off his lid, back in the days.

Upbrim with deep flange and thin matching trims. Unlined and unreeded, laced sweatband. No bells and whistles on this one

Have a nice weekend!
It doesn't need any: it shines on its own. Colour me jealous, Panos. What a catch!

Classic and beautiful. A keeper for sure.

A few from the past few days. Thursday I had to go on Base to attend to some IT issues. A Stetson RD Musketeer went with me.

Excellent parade of hats. Jim. It's a selection that Eric @Short Balding Guy wears before breakfast, but he's in a league of his own.;)

Well, if I have to chose between navy and dark moss...;)

Good hat and food pics: balm for the soul! Excellent, Gary.

Catching up on all the great hats shared this week while watching some Olympic Trials. This box pleat Stetson courtesy of a trade with @M Hatman was the the choice of the day:

Kevin Martin and Pete Fenson might especially appreciate the button, eh @belfastboy and @johnnycanuck?
Very nice gills (and hat), Jonathan.
