What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

My excitement for the day…

So this was a first. All of a sudden a grinding and grabbing/clunking in the front right wheel. Immediately I was trying to think what it could be.. as it hadn’t been all that long since I changed the brake pads…. Did the pad break or come loose.. was the caliper sticking…. Something else in the suspension entirely?… broken hub.. bad wheel bearing? It was Grinding and sticking when forward…. Just fine in reverse. When I got out and looked at the rim I noticed something had ground a groove in the wheel. I climbed under and saw one of the caliper mounting bolts had fallen off.. so when going forward and stepping on brake the caliper would shoot forward and drag on the rim. Reverse it seated properly. Hardest part of the repair was finding a store that had the bolts in stock. On a hunch I slid the truck in reverse a few feet before attempting the repair which seated the caliper perfectly and the bolt slides right in and tightened perfectly. Didn’t even have to wash any grease off my hands.

Just a camo Dolphins cap for the repair. Couldn’t bring myself to do this job @Short Balding Guy style. Sometimes there is the right hat for the job. This one was good here :)

Bolt replaced… you can see the groove that the caliper carved into the wheel.

I officially became a Senior Citizen yesterday and wore my Black Sheep Hat works refurbished Dobbs Mylan-felt dualist to the beach for a 1/2 mile swim. Couldn't find the Senior's section, but I got a Shaka from one of the long board surfers looking for that big wave way off shore. Didn't need may new Medicare card. Happy birthday! Since AARP says you qualify for membership at 50 I’m assuming that’s what you turned! The way you’re living you’ll live forever. :)

I am wearing a Playboy this evening. This new hat, to me, is an unlined Stetson Playboy in a medium gray.

This is the correct hat size on the tag, but it does require some sizing tape to make it small enough to stay put on my head.

These vintage unlined hats have become an easy to wear hat on my hat rack. They can cover the warmer months and even extend far into fall or spring hat wearing.

Benson's of Worchester, Mass sold this hat and it is still clean and tidy.

A pleasant addition is a working and healthy wind cord. This cord shows patina, but is solid and I will make good use of.

Thank you for allowing me to share my Stetson Playboy.

Cheers, Eric -

Not sure whether to congratulate you or send condolences, Jonesy.
Enjoy all the new mail you’ll be getting and don’t forget to fein deafness when appropriate. You don’t want to find the Senior Section for anything til it finds you.
I’ma get back to my rocking chair now.
Great dualist!

So, 9 weeks of proton radiation therapy at MD Anderson. What a journey, Jack Dancer tried to knock me out, but I got the upper hand. I've been out of sorts for quite a while. But, gettin' better every day. 50's Playboy brightened the day.

Not quite sure what I have here but I picked up a nice 1960s Royal Stetson in Green Olive Drab with what I believe to be a Cavanagh edge?
It has the appearance of the Ivy League style with the smaller brim just short of 2 inches. Anyone here have an idea of what this one is?
The logo on the band is rubbed out but enough of the indentation left to make out the words Royal Stetson and on the other side I can just make out Blackburn's Dept. Store West Jefferson NC.
In really decent shape. Paid $28.00. I had to have it as Olive Drab is my favorite color! :p

Ken -- after that good news seeing your face on here brightened my day more than any '50s Playboy could. You look great and I credit God, your fighting spirit and MD Anderson more than Stetson. Stick around here a good long while, won't you?
