Mac Lachlan Beaver 15 - Light Silver
5 inch center dent crown - 5 1/2 Open
2 7/8 brim with Cavanagh edge
2 inch Black grosgrain ribbon
Wind Trolley
It is not hard to see past the moderate mothing on this Mac Lachlan Beaver 15 to see that is was one BEAUTIFUL hat... and really still is. The hand of the felt feels fantastic and it shapes with ease. The brim is a full 2 7/8 with a gorgeous Cavanagh edge. The look and feel of this hat make it hard for me to fathom what the quality would be like on their Fifty Silver Beaver or Max’s grail Golden Beaver 100. Aside from the moth nibbles... none of which go all the way through the felt. It just needed a good brushing that released a good half century or more of dust.. and it really sprung to life. The beautiful brown sweat features the iconic Mac Lachlan Air-Vac Cooling and Cushion system.

One of the nicest 7X CBs I’ve ever seen.
Heck of a fine hat Ross
Ba ba ba boom!!Mr. and Mrs. Potato-head had a daughter, Sally Potato-head. Sally grew up to be the apple of her father's eye, and he was very protective of her; only wanted the best.
Well, the day finally arrived where Sally brought home a beau, and announced she was to be wed. It turns out that the fellow whose eye she caught was none other than the now late Rush Limbaugh! Mr. and Mrs. Potato-head reacted badly to this, and didn't approve.
Sally pleaded with them, "But Mom, Dad, he's a great guy, successful, well-to-do, and he treats me very well!"
Mr. Potato-head looked at Sally and replied, "But...he's only a 'common tater!'"
Thanks Charlie. I got 10 hours of sleep last night and both I and the weather are looking up. That was a great Stetsonian you had out and about yesterday.Vibrant color on that beaut, Michael. Get your rest. Take it easy, take care of yourself!!

Very sharp! Have not seen this brand before. C&F has long been a favorite, but I've never owned one.View attachment 311147 50s Collins and Fairbanks. Killer colors! 3” red/brown bound brim on a green/brown super fine felt.
A new brand to me. I looked a few up in old threads and saw where several fellows own these France built fedoras.
Man, this is a very well made, high quality hat. I’d put it right up there with my two Crofut and Knapps.
However, I do not like how the binding is stitched on, though it would take a lot of effort and skill to do.
Looks like it’s done in the same way that old bowlers were done on the bottom side of the binding. i.e. what I’d call, “tacked” every 3/4”, except on this one it’s tacked on both sides every 5/16” which causes unsightly puckers. The details guy in me wants so bad to machine a single row of close stitching over the tacks, so it’d make the puckers disappear, but the leave it original guy in me says to keep it as Collins Fairbanks has it!
I’ll likely leave it alone.
I saw one other C-F hat which has the same stitching method, the rest had regular stitching.
I’ve come up with a failproof way of cleaning the stains out of the liners without removal and had to use it on this one. It had really ugly, huge, difficult sweat stains that I was mostly able to make disappear.
Love this fedora!!
I haven’t shaped the crown and will probably leave it alone, too, as it looks pretty good. View attachment 311148 View attachment 311149 View attachment 311150 View attachment 311151

Did GA get any of this mess? Brother in Arkansas had -8°F weather for awhile. He's at 28°F/3°F for today.
Thanks.
Not yet. It’s quite warm outside.
None today, but we’ve been hammered with heavy rains for months! I live near the Okeefenokee swamp, now I think I’m part of it!
