Wow! That’s really saying something. Care to share why this is your favorite? I’m just curious as they all look fantastic to me.

Brent; Fav was typed with today's emotions. It leads the pack of Gannons, but as expected can change with a whim.

The combo of the blue-mist felt efforts by Michael Gannon, the style and details. The felt work I spoke to on the Gannon thread. It is really well done. So fun to pop it open to open crown and then smoothly run my hand down, make a quick center dent, pop a couple fingers from underneath to make a diamond and slide my hand to make some side dents. Just organically creases. It has a similar feel to the felt as my Stetson Stratoliner Royal DeLuxe (silverbelly).

Blue-smoke Winchester beaver felt rocks! Gray/blue/silver in different lights - make it so very cool. The style! The brim stitching ala Stetson Playboys and the ribbon width make it so very easy to pick up and wear. Country, yet downtown. Being able to ask for a 30's crown on the hat seals the deal for me. Brent, you have seen this felt up close and know that it is not perfect in its color uniformity. It works for this hat and I perfectly.

"Fav." The "new hat" rainbow effect is certainly a factor. It is sitting on a wood block with the plastic crown protector on it on my desk. Out to see and easily pick-up.

Most versatile felt hue, for me, would still have to be Winchester's VS Dove and then Silverbelly.

Excellent question Brent. Cheers, Eric -

Thanks for taking the time to write such a wonderful and expressive description. Your earliest Gannon is a couple years older than mine, but I’m astounded in how much more I like Michael’s recent work. The pouncing on the crown is truly astonishing. I wonder what another couple of years will bring!

I know many of us are looking forward to an updated Gannon tree photo! Your photos are what convinced me to try Gannon and I’ll forever be in your debt for that.

Thanks again,
Brent

This...this post right here is why i come to the lounge Eric!!
Your description of the crease perfectly characterizes what i call the obedience of the perfect felt. Poetry!
All my most favorite hats exude in this respect.
I have no Gannon. You, Mike and Doug always tickle my one more hat bone with your Gannon posts. It took me forever to finally get a VS, i’m wondering how much i’ve missed with the Gannon.
Great post Eric. Thank you
B

Champ Long Hair Black Heather
4 7/8 Crown as shaped
3/4 silver grosgrain mid ribbon
2 inch under welt brim

This medium/long hair black heather Champ came to me in a care package from our lounge friend Randy @Rmccamey It is an unusual but beautiful very soft and petable black felt with hints of white, blue, green, yellow and red heathered into the mix. Randy had Rick at Phoenix hats replace the ribbon with this silver mid ribbon. I think it was an excellent choice as it really makes it pop. Thank you to Randy for this Very cool hat.

To "celebrate" the hats made in wool today I wear a French product of the Seventies, rigorously made in wool.
Bout 5.jpg

I have a series of French hats from the 20s / 30s up to the 60s in pure wool
Bout 2 bis.jpg

This comes from one of the centers of French headwear: Chazelles sur Lyon. It was built by "Chapeaux Renommes - Bouteille" a subcontractor who at the end of the hat-box industry in France branded his own products.
Bout 4.jpg
The shape is called "Luc" but it is an "alpine shape" with a very raised rear brim and a very typical shape of hats made on the Alps from whatever side they are seen
Bout 6.jpg

The wool allows the hatter
to make a beautiful heathered felt that varies from white to black with a series of grays in between
Bout 9.jpg
It is a low level hat with average finishes arrived new until these days.
Thanks a lot for the appreciation on "Morreton Liclon"
Have anice Monday
