What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Continuing to enjoy the Whippet today along with my other Fathers Day gifts. It does appear my Dolphin is swimming upside down. I do hope I won’t need to flush him along with the whole season.

Taking a break from the beach on this cloudy day with The Scuttler Cap from Mr. Freedom. A NOS vintage indigo herringbone twill cotton, in an original MF® pattern inspired by vintage 1930’s newsboy eight-panel caps with a genuine kangaroo leather sweatband, and NOS cotton biased tape seam piecing.

Good look Jonesy.
Love the MF cap.
Looks like a John Chapman GW creation jacket in shinki hide or something close. Way cool!!

Very nice, Steve. I wanted it to be a German Strat or OR but then had to take a second and third look! A lot of great details on that one.

A. Breiter München Der Hutmacher Am Dom, possibly mid 1950s. Not sure if A. Breiter München made this one but it looks like they might have modified it based on the hand written tag. Very interesting bow design and brim treatment.

I'm a big fan of thin ribbons and that one is very unique. I'd definitely love to have something like that in my collection.

This one isn't me wearing a hat but it's one that I converted sometime way back. Following some advice from a better known hatter I reblocked this one on a 23 inch straight sided block. Well, it ended up being too small. It was a tan Western that I converted to a raw edge thin ribbon fedora. It has a 5 3/4 open crown that's creased to a teardrop, 4 3/4 at the pinch with a rake sloping to 4 inches to the back. The snap brim is 2 5/8 inches wide. Anyway, my doctor likes my conversions. I went to see him the other day over another flare up of back issues again. Since he liked my hats so well I gave him this one and it fit him perfectly. Unfortunately I didn't get before and after pictures of the hat and I don't remember who the maker was. Anyway here's my doctor sporting one of my conversions. He loves it....

Even if it is one of your first conversions; as per usual, it looks really great!
Now tell your doctor how to wear a fedora properly.
I may get in trouble on here saying that, but to me, he needs to pull the front down a bit. Just sayin’. :)

Thanks, buddy. As far as wearing a fedora, though, I'll leave it to others to tell people how to wear one. I figure it's not my place to do that. As all of us know, no two people are going to wear their hats the same way. I basically wear mine in much the same way you do, but that doesn't mean the next guy has to do the same. Besides, I figure it's all subjective anyway. :)

Terry, Thank you! It has a unique ribbon / bow design. Also the under brim only binding.

The hat looks great on your doctor! You are a master at the conversions! I hope you are feeling better.

You're welcome buddy. I loved everything about that hat, really nice...and thank you. I go through these flare ups every now and then. He gave me another prescription for Prednisone so I should be feeling better soon.

Nice hat. I wish I liked Whippets on my head. They don't look right on me.

Go Dolphins. It seems all the ones I grew up with are starting to die off. Poor Jim Kiick. He had a horrible last decade.
