A very fine historic hat with beautiful bow... thanks for the photos.

Thank you Alan.. found this from a 1941 Montgomery Ward catalog. Not sure where the hat falls time wise... but I had originally thought based on the sellers measurements it might be close to the Brent model... however it’s actual measurements put it closer to the Brandon bound edge model. They both were available in Dark blue

The weather was cruddy today and I didn't manage to get a photo. So I decided to continue wearing my hat when I got home. With this Daks cheesecutter, I have now posted all of my autumn/winter hats except a couple of nondescript beanies. I have serious hat envy for those posting 30 hats in 30 days! My wife wore her Goorin Bros.
This is me relaxing with a couple of my favourite books. The chair is my pride and joy. It's nearly impossible to sit on this chair without falling asleep! The stool (which we use as a table) is made from whiskey casks.

There’s more to posting around here than having a ton of hats. Seeing what people wear in there own element is plenty good for me. I enjoy the context of wearing that day’s hat and a good story adds life to the show. Lol
There’s plenty uhhs and ahhs to covet but seeing extras like that pride and joy chair keep me coming back.

Only a guess, but I think it might be earlier than the 1941 ads. The quality of debossed imprint and the character of the sweatband suggest a 1930s hat to me. That fashion forward upswing bow (original?) does not seem in keeping with an entry level hat as described in the 1941 ad. It's an interesting find and it wears really nicely.

Thanks Eric. There is still hope that the snow will stay north of me. I am just back from a brisk walk and I got sweated.

My shared morning dog excursion was made in a Cordova Cap.

I headed out for a longer escapade into the trails around my neighborhood. Appropriately I sproted wearing warmer outdoor clothes and a different Cordova Cap.

Winds and snow picked up as the temps have started dropping.

Both great caps, Eric. The fabric on the first one is great, and the second does do a fine job of camouflaging you in the snow.

Thank you so much for your thoughts on it Alan.. I really appreciate it. I was getting a 30s vibe myself. Interestingly this one came to me via the same seller as my early 1900s Roelofs. If memory serves though he finds stuff at garage sales so he doesnt have any info on them. The 1941 Ad was just the only thing I came across. Thought it was kinda cool as a partial reference. I will surely enjoy wearing this one.

Dunderry (Montgomery Ward) in Dark Blue
5 inch crown as bashed
1 5/8 grosgrain ribbon
2 1/4 brim with black grosgrain binding
2 inch tan sweatband

Adding a little color for Easter today.. even if it is a deep dark blue color of my newest arrival Montgomery Ward Dunderry. This hat is stunning with its dark blue felt.. tremendous proportions. The seller had indicated a 2.5 inch brim... but I am very happy with the 2 1/4 it actually is.. I think it works perfectly on this hat. Hard to reproduce the color of this hat as it changes drastically depending on the light. I think I came close here.. There is nothing not to love about this hat.. from its color.. it’s bow.. it’s shape and the feel of the felt. Maybe a little staining on the liner and sweat. I am very impressed with and excited about this hat.

Super hat! I so need a blue fedora. Though I don’t know relatively much about dating hats, I agree with Alan in that that fedora is simply too special for the mediocrity of later models.
The ribbon work is awesome and I plan to do a jaunty one like that on the very next occasion where it fits the hat!
Hope that one falls into one of your favorites as it is certainly one of mine.

Happy Easter to all! Dressed up long enough to get into the spring spirit. Yes, a straw boater, in defiance of the Hat Police. It is about as rebellious as one can be in these times. The boater is pre-1947, probably WWII vintage. It is made by Pedigree for a men's shop in Washington. Dating comes from the store locations in the ribbon logo. New white double breasted jacket and a Jerry Garcia tie. Allen Edmonds tassel loafers, Bridgeton model. Now, back into my sweats and dirty t-shirt...

A cool spring day, perfect for my favorite Cordings tweed suit and a short-brimmed, brown beaver with a raw-edge from Henri Henri in Montreal. Sorry for the crooked pic, my three-year old took it (she insisted). This is actually my first real hat, other than caps. Getting into hats has been on my mind for some time, but there aren't any great hat stores in my area. So, whilst in Montreal a couple months back I stopped by Henri Henri. It was their only brown beaver in stock, and happened to by my size. Made locally for the shop, it looked great and was at an amazing price, so I couldn't pass it up. Now I've got the itch for ever more hats!

Thanks Randall. I love it as well. It definitely won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Other than on top of my head. this is one blue hat I will definitely wear which I have wanted for some time. I do have a gorgeous Blue Biltmore that for some reason I can’t get to look right on me. I will share it here eventually
