Have you posted detail shots on this hat anywhere, such as the 3X thread? It looks as if it is very close to a 3X I have w/o the Fifteen designation.

Only back in the New Hats thread when I first got it from Randy.
I need to post all of my 3X's in the 3X thread, but I'm a little behind.

Here's some inside pics though:

Mode edge vs Underwelt; classier ribbon treatment (both have back bows), and a wind trolley. There are probably some other items in there that make yours a Fifteen over the version I have. I guess I'd assume the felt quality is similar, though.

Darn it! Until you showed the inside, I was guessing Schoble.

I wonder about the Kasmir finish. We see it regularly referred to on Champs, and also Resistols. This is the only Stetson I'm aware of. I wonder if there was something that triggered this term to be somewhat popular as a sales tool

Love seeing darns & Schoble in the same sentence!... alas, I only have one - the thin ribbon Mainliner I wore last week.

Me too, but it's a midnight blue Homburg, so If I only get to have one...

I have to admit, since the day I joined this site (which was quite some time before I discovered TapaTalk), I've just gone up top and hit "New Posts" when I land on the site. I have a stable of Watched threads, but I usually use those as short-cuts to finding things when I want them. I hit this place often enough I'm more interested in what's new. And sometimes I get caught up in some other interesting threads that are not hat related, as well.

Don't look directly at it.
You know that’s funny I recently found the new posts button. For some reason on iPad the button only shows up when you turn the device vertical to portrait mode. In wide screen... nowhere to be found.

That's a great 3X. Not what I usually think of, for sure.

Wow, Alan. Perfection in a hat, there.

Love that Kasmir finish and mid ribbon.

View attachment 212677 View attachment 212673 Here’s my 40s/early 50s Knox Westlite that I sewed a khaki campaign bow on today. The knotted bow and 2 cord ribbon that was on this hat when I got it wasn’t original, far as I could tell.
So, this hat made a perfect candidate for my second try at this style of bow.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Super job on the ribbon, Randy. Really looks good.

Made a round of the thrift stores today and found a few things I wanted to photograph. So I threw on this Panizza Sportsman to keep the rapidly accumulating snow off of my head.

Picked up this silk patch pocket jacket, the Brooks Brothers lambswool sweater vest and the new with tags Big Yank cords that date from the early 80s on the outing.

Have a good evening,
Michael

Echter Velour - Soleil possibly 1930s. I don't know the company that made it but I am pretty sure it's from a German source. The Velour is very light weight and extremely pliable. This is the only example I have of the use of the word "Soleil". ("When the tips are clipped off and the hair is ironed all around or from top to bottom one talks about “Soleil” ", from "Hair Velour / Real (Echter) Velour / Prime (Prima) Velour Fabrikation von Damen- und Herren- Filzhüten, Der Deustchen Hutmacher Zeitung (1933)")
