What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Wasn't all you can eat tacos, but all you can eat chips and salsa plus the house margarita special today at the favorite local Mexican restaurant. Two bowls of chips and four margaritas later the Mallory Director said that's a wrap:

That’s a great looking hat Jonathan, and I like how you have it shaped.

Man, beautiful Mallory Jonathan.

By the way, the Endless Tacos are at On the Border. Pretty decent, but a great deal for $8.99.

No sun today; bummer. A recent arrival then.
Borsalino Cicosca Dattero Nutria. Sounds like royalty (and it is!).

Another recent arrival. Hückel exclusiv

Great hats! The one with the convex dents protruding from the concave dents make it look like a frog’s head poking up through the top of your hat! Or maybe it’s an iguana’s head.[emoji1656]
Do y’all have huge lizards falling out of trees over there, too?
But seriously, what’s up with the opposing dents? Intentional?

Ooooh! So jealous! Can we share that Mallory? You wear it a few months, then send it to me to wear for a few months and so on? We can start a hat swingers fad! [emoji12]

Sorry about the quality. I think this is my 2nd selfie. I have a stick but have never tried using it. So kinda awkward with one hand. Anyway, a Knox 20 for work tonight.

Thanks, Brent. It's just a dry organic crease letting the felt be the guide combined with trying to hide some of the uglies. The felt is magnificent, though it arrived rather moth nibble ridden. I only have one other hat, the green long hair Dobbs, which has a minimal/no pinch and wide side dents. Trying to keep a bit of variety with the profiles of my hats.

Good to see you sporting some Mallory love as well today!

Thanks for the tip, Tim. I just looked and it appears the closest one is about 2 hours away, so probably a no go. My place is just a local joint. I try to support the indie places, though every once in a blue moon the wife and I hit up Five Guys. This place is decent, not great, but hard to beat in terms of value. The best Mexican I ever had was when I was staying in your great state (El Paso), though it was a business lunch in Juarez.

Haha!! Good one!

But seriously, Jonathan... what about it? Do you need my address!

I'd have to say get in line because I've had others inquire about this one as well. This was part of a treasure trove from an estate auction haul I found this past summer. Most of the hats were larger sizes, 7-1/2 to 7-3/4 XLO. This one is a 7-3/8 LO, and though it is a touch large for me it's not too bad right now with my hair being longer. I don't see myself letting this one go any time soon, so I will have to respectfully decline.

BYW, great work on your bow treatments that you've been showcasing lately. If you haven't already seen the thread you should check out Bows Take a Bow. Lots of great examples for some possible inspiration. On page 8 there are pics of a great museum collection taken by some fellow Loungers.

And we’re about the same size, as well?!!
I think we should definitely start swinging hats! Except, I should warn you, none of my gals look near as good as that Mallory and many other of your gals!
Now, I’ve been joking, except the part about your string of nice hats.
And thank you for the bow compliment.
I’ll go check out that thread!

After some work reading I headed out in a cap.

Home this evening walking the yard with my dog in a Gannon "Executive." Modeled after a Adam Executive Quality Pacesetter I was inspired by. The natural felt hides the sleaty snow mix that is falling tonight.

Best, Eric -

I have three hats made in Winchester’s natural color and now I want a fourth! I love the gills and the spacing of them is just right...I don’t like them too far apart.

I look forward to your posts and they never disappoint!

Thanks sir. I am flattered. I agree with the natural felt being a great choice. The natural felt is just so easy to pair up with my "outside clothes." When I head to the "city" I find other hats. I enjoy the "city," but love the country/outside. For me the natural becomes a fav by far. Michaels gills on this hat are dynamite. I have 2 gilled Gannons. This version, with more dimension to the gill is my fav. I like the eye pop it gives.

I can not wait to see you next hat from Gannon. In that vain I do enjoy seeing the wide variety of hats you wear. You are in that small and select group who have handled most of the felt manufacturers and felt hues. That is just cool.

Thanks very much.

I respectfully believe that Art Fawcett (VS Hats) has an edge, produced by years of experience on Gannon. Michael Gannon has the time to become the best gill hat artist. IMO, he is on the way. With Art retiring shortly the gill story will continue to be written.

Art Fawcett VS gill examples here:

Wow! Amazing looking gills and hats, Eric.
I’ve just returned from gawking and reading the bows take a bow thread that Johnathan posted. I’m flattened!
So many different wonderful bows. I had no idea.
