Thank you.

As far as I'm able to tell, only three hats made by Joicy of Baltimore have shown up on the Lounge. One was a panama owned by TFL member Stoney. Another is mine, a thin ribbon custom. Lastly, member Swing Motorman has since found the third, nearly identical to mine.

This link will take you to my original post in the Ebay thread, where I provide the listing and a quote of the post containing the Joicy panama.

Thanks for the links. Good eye.....That was a very nice buy. Photos on the original listing didn't do justice to that hat at all.

The sunlight helps to show the character of the velour felt, but I'm afraid nothing in the iPhone's bag of tricks can capture the subtle green tone of the ribbon. A good hat for the coldest morning in several years.

I'm so envious.....Been looking for a Velour in my size since I got back in buying mode. Haven't found the right one yet.
That second photo just says....rich, expensive and quality.

David, that Pesca is so awesome! That's a self-colored felt strip instead of ribbon, right?

Thanks so much! Yes, the "ribbon" is the same felt as the hat body.

Once again, nice TARS Tom and David. Interesting Borsa you have there.

Thanks, Hatto. Cool OR for you. Bloody cold here today as well with more to come, it seems.

David, Nice band treatment. Gives it a clean simple elegant look.

Thanks Mystic. I should wear this hat more often, but since it is dense suede felt, I tend to keep it for cooler days.

David, wonderful hat your Pesca. Looks very good on you!
Thanks so much, Manfred

David, nice breather from the grosgrain ribbon! sharp hat.

Thanks a lot, Jeff. Wool or not, your hat was looking cook today.

David, Great Borsalino! Really like the thin felt ribbon!

Thanks, Steve. I can say, I don't recall seeing a Leopold Nagy before!

Sam - the Selentino looks just the job for a cold morning.

Alan - the felt on your Anton Peschel looks fabulous

Memph - I bet you wear the Buckeroo much more after the little modification

Ernest - nice to see you back

I swear that looks like a Jack Vettriano painting! The style of hat Ryan's wearing, and the way he touches the brim, turn up in more than one Vettriano painting.

Great observation, although it was purely coincidental. Jack Vettriano certainly loves the "Guys And Dolls" theme in his paintings.

Hi

The group does great work, but I'm amazed y'all didn't meat the SWAT team.

Later

Thank you! We have law enforcement covered with our police department contacts. ;)

I went hiking today in my Akubra Riverina:

Beautiful pic.

Checking in real quick on vacation. Here's my Ecuadorian Panama Hat Co of New York milan at Hanauma bay on Oahu.

I envy you your Winter escape to Paradise, Jared. Great lid and photo. Brings back some wonderful memories of childhood snorkeling adventures at Hanauma Bay...

Life Is A Cabaret...

At the Kit Kat Club last Friday evening...

...in my OPTIMO Natural Beaver Belly.

The Kit Kat Club in Bloomington, Minnesota, that is. Enjoying the Bloomington Civic Theater's splendid production of the John Kander classic.

Late night breakfast at Mickey's Diner in Highland Park, St. Paul afterwards.

Thanks to recurrent lucky karma, my '30s Dobbs "Improved Cavanagh Edge" early Saturday morning, dropping Ryan off at Macalester College for a mock SAT exam.

The vibrant blue, soft-suede-finish felt is trimmed with an unusual self-ribbon. Hanging out at John's violin shop while waiting for Ryan.

Checking the progress John has made in working on the 1736 Gabrielli violin.

In pursuit of old hats and who knows what else, Lydia and I followed an 'estate sale' sign to this old concrete plant and adjacent warehouses.

Lovely old structures full of character, broken windows and all.

The moment of discovery. Nice, decorative bullseye mirror from the 1940s for $10. Will be a useful prop for Ryan's film.

Continuing our search for props in the afternoon, we visited our friend Jim at his fabulous Art & Architecture in Minneapolis.

Phenomenal cast bronze door transom from the now-lost Biltmore Hotel in New York City, originally completed in 1912.

Finally found a nice candlestick phone at a reasonable cost for use in the film. Rare nickel-plated, early example in completely untouched condition.

We really admired the absolutely stunning, carved-oak paneled room salvaged from a Glencoe, Illinois mansion. The panels are signed by the carpenter-artist and dated 1906.

Last stop in the afternoon, the eclectic and always interesting shop owned by one of Lydia's friends, who always manages to find unusual items and has a talent for staging.

Trying on a luxurious '40s lounging robe.

On a roll with the lounging robes. This one, a rare, four-button '30s example.

A nice wool specimen with piped lapel and breast pocket.

The brilliant sunshine Sunday morning belied the frigid, sub-zero fahrenheit temperature. Salvatore Balbi Borsalino "XX" 'Nutria' Homburg.

Back at Jim's place again.

Cast bronze pilasters with Corinthian capitals from the Biltmore Hotel, NYC. How could we incorporate these massive pieces into our home?

Gorgeous decorative iron-work salvaged from the still-standing neo-classical public library in Duluth, Minnesota. Built in 1902, it was one of 65 Carnegie Libraries built in Minnesota between 1901 and 1918 with funds made available by Andrew Carnegie. Fascinating chapter in history, these old Carnegie Libraries.

The wonderful carved oak paneled room as backdrop once again.

Decorative iron-work salvaged from the demolished main concourse of the Beaux-Arts Union Station in Chicago.

As much as we dislike mall shopping, we had to make a dash to the Mall Of America late in the afternoon to grab a pair of sneakers for Ryan, literally a thirty minute affair.

We much preferred the piscatorial delight afterwards.
