Today I am wearing my new (to me, Thanks Rodkins!) Stetson Firenza! This is the very first fur-felt hat I have ever owned and it is a true revelation!
I'm afraid I have no way of taking pics yet but I will try to remedy that soon and get some posted.

I had to get a new sweatband as the hat was practically ruined by wearing it in Venice, but it turned out to be pretty salvageable. I had forgotten how much I like this hat and the proportions.

Back to the triple digits for temp today (104) so is STILL Panama weather down here :) One of PB's sale Cuenca's I got this spring. BTW it has the same style of crease as my grandfather's panama I show in the Ancestors Hats thread.

What happened, did it find its way into a canal or two? Looks good now, anyhow.

Thanks, Fellas!

WOW!! You had some amazing purchases this weekend!!! That Stetson Panama is exquisite and the price was most definitely right. That Stetson Standard Quality looks phenomenal on you!! I love the deep crease that you gave the hat. Just fantastic photos, Al!!! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Thank you, my friend. ;) Glad you like the crease. I have been experimenting, and this deep center crease seems to work best for me. The felt is out-of-this world, as you well know.

I have not fully absorbed the magnitude of my good fortune this past Saturday, for the number of 7-1/2 vintage lids that I stumbled upon, one after another, seemed surreal.

Unbelievable haul, Al! You have some serious hat mojo.

Thanks! Seven lids and a(for me) hat related 'grail' item from two Saturdays' picking. I am savoring this unlikely to be duplicated moment!

AL... you are completely out of control!

Funny, that seems to be Lydia's mantra as well. lol

Actually, Lydia was as dumbfounded as I was by the number of nice vintage lids we have come across lately, and has been incredibly supportive. I think she realizes how improbable it is for this streak to continue!

Thank you for your kind words, even those referring to my excesses!

Al,

Dude, you racked UP this weekend. Congrats on the great finds, can't wait to see you wearing them!

:peace: Thanks for your generous comments, as always, they are genuinely appreciated!

Al, did you buy the Lee?

No, not yet. It was a lovely, high-quality hat at one time, but has lost its liner over the years. No size tag, but it seemed to be a size 7 or 7-1/8. A bit bedraggled, but without mothing, and still with undeniable appeal. I may go back and pick it up this weekend, along with a size 7-1/2, black, '60s Stevens lid I also passed on that day.

Thanks, Ale. As Alan said, I am completely out of control lol, but the damage is not too bad considering that none of the hats have cost more than $30!

I think we can safely put this in the record as a good hat hunting day!

Especially love the old Stetson.
