What hat are you waiting for today?

I bought this one on eBay yesterday. Much thanks to @Bamaboots who helped me with some insight as I am new to all of this. This is my first vintage hat purchase. Anyone who knows info on this one I appreciate it. It was advertised as a 1940's Open Road though I see no markings to indicate that it is.

Nice acquisition! The liner, sweat & the vertigris should clean up nicely. The embossing looks all good & will really glow.

My first Akubra is on its way from the great downunder via USPS. Its been four weeks shipping. I'm expecting it any day now (maybe today) but we'll see how USPS performs. They are currently in possession of some other non-hat packages of mine that were scheduled for delivery before Thanksgiving but are nowhere to be found...

BTW...my Akubra is one of the last Squatters before they were discontinued.

I am right there with you. I got two Akubra Campdrafts that were supposed to be here today. If tracking is correct they should be here tomorrow. Seems like California mail is slowed down. The corrupt Postmaster Dejoy's handiwork I am sure.

Just a friendly caution: politics is a strictly banned topic here on The Lounge. I’m just a nobody here, but to keep this place welcoming and friendly to all we stay completely away from politics or anything that smacks of politics.

As for USPS delays, I ordered something from Santa Rosa, California and had it shipped to my address in Central, California. Just shy of two (2) months to arrive after it first showed up on USPS tracking. I opened a case at around week five and the Postmaster’s response was that it wasn’t lost or stolen and just delayed. When it arrived it was immaculate and the packaging and shipping label were perfect. Less than 200 miles and almost two months!

I'm still waiting on a cap I ordered in early November. It shipped on the 14th, took five days to travel roughly 165 miles from Fairdealing, MO, to St. Louis. Then tracking said it left St. Louis on the 21st, and it took TWO "Where's my package?" inquiries before tracking revealed they found it in Memphis. o_O It allegedly left Memphis yesterday, so now we're back to the generic "In transit to next facility" tracking messages until the next time they lose it.

I understand the USPS got sabotaged from within and they're trying to make everything right again, and that the Covid-19 precautions have everything screwed up. Hell, last night around 7:00 there were TWO USPS trucks out delivering packages in our neighborhood. But with Christmas coming up, if they think it's bad now they're REALLY going to have angry customers if Jimmy's and Suzie's toys aren't under the tree on time.

This year I had two experiences with postal services. The first time I had a package sent to me from the US it disappeared from the radar for four months only for it to suddenly reappear and delivered to me without as much as a scratch on it. The second experience was a package that was sent to me recently that appeared on my doorstep within five days of being sent, and that is from the US to the Netherlands. I think they must have started up the Concorde again for that one; never before was a package that fast. What's that saying again: "your results may vary"?

The Borsa I mailed to you from Canada on a Friday afternoon arrived to you on the Monday afternoon. Sometimes it makes zero sense.
