Excited this is on its way. It probably won’t fit... I’ve had a run of bad fitting new hats... <sniff>

There is a tradition in Hawaii of hand woven straw hats called Lauhala hats, made out of a palm like tree called the Hala or Pandanus tree.

I have been on the hunt for a cowboy or Paniolo style Lauhala hat similar to this one.

They are difficult to find and pretty pricey. However, I found a Milner in Sydney who is working with women in Vanuatu who weave hats out of pandanus.
I should receive a hat soon made from the hat body on the left, in a similar style to the Vanuatu cowboy hat on the right.

The design on those is pretty neat. The weave reminds me of boater hats. I'm excited to see how it turns out. Would you be willing to share more info on the milliner?

Thanks, I am excited to see the hat. The Milner, Rosie Boylan seems pretty cool. She is doing great work helping the women of Vanuatu build a market for their work.

Borsalino's don't drink whiskey??? Boy the Stetsons i have sure do!!!! Every time a glass of whiskey is set in front of me when I have my Stetson around...it is gone in a flash!:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes:;)
I guess I should wear my Borsa's out to the bars more often and maybe that will not happen...I will just HAVE to experiment!!!:):):)
Whisky is fine, but don't put them next to red wine!
