Probably two weeks out from trying on my first hat from Michael Gannon. Pretty stoked about it. Now that I’ve paid the balance I’m reasonably sure this is actually going to happen so here I am posting about it - if a rock drops on my head out the sky between now and then I will let you guys know. ; )

I won an auction for a hat I had seen here once before, a Webster brand, with the Model called a "Strato." It seems mine is claimed to be fur felt, while the one posted here years ago was wool. We shall see about that, however, there Is NO doubt what Webster was going for in bringing this hat to market.

Early 1950's Dobbs Twenty longhair fedora with 2 3/4 inch brim.

Dobbs Rancher with bound brim said to be slightly over 3 1/2 inches. I'm confused about the date for this hat. The mfg tag suggests 1960's because it doesn't give the Depth. But the liner looks 40's or early 50's to me and the slanted Dobbs logo on the sweatband also looks that period. Any help from the Hatted Professor Brad on this one?
This Dobbs Rancher looks quite a bit different from all others with that same name on the Lounge.

About 1950's either a Dobbs or Knox Beaver Twenty longhair fedora with 3 1/4 inch bound brim. It was worked on by Personality Hats, who put their own replacement liner, sweatband and mfg tag in the hat. I believe it still has the trademark 50's Dobbs and Knox size tag. The words "Beaver Twenty" are stamped on the sweatband. This is the first Beaver longhair I've personally come across.

As explained in my new member introductory post today, I’ve asked John Penman to reblock a fedora he built for me last March. The hat is superb quality, both Fepsa felt and workmanship, but I find the 1930s/40s straight sided crown he favors too large for my face, and have asked him to reblock to the late 50s/60s tapered crown that Optimo favors. (Perhaps I should say “too large for my taste.” That’s more accurate, as John thought the proportions just right.)

Very much looking forward to getting the Penman back reblocked. Penman on the left, Optimo on the right for crown comparison.
