Yup, a few months per year it's livable. I was born and raised in Milwaukee. I left at the age of 17 when I joined the Air Force. 22 yrs later ended up in Austin, TX. And here I stay. I go back every few years to WI for a visit.

Jack- what is the felt like on the BOTP? More western, or more Royal?

I am starting my research on the BOTP as I love the open crown and flat brim. Doing an internet search comes back with lots of hats with varying creases and punches.

It was a 3X & a BOTP is a big hat so they're not going to be soft. So it can have a decent hand to the finish but it will be Western stiff. I had to return it to the seller as the size was misrepresented even though still tagged. What made it rare was it was a Stetson BOTP made under contract by Akubra.

Unfortunately the BOTP name gets applied to a lot of hats these days with large brims regardless of their other specs or dimensions.

I'm waiting for the Stetson Open Road Royal Deluxe in sage. I already love my OR in 6X (I really like the western felt) and I'm quite certain the RD texture will also suit me.

*Update- I received the wrong hat in the mail- a Stetson Stratoliner in sage. But oh boy, what a beauty! It's not what I ordered or want at this time and will return for the Open Road, but I was glad to see the color and feel the Royal texture.

Next time I'm in the market for a proper fedora, the Stratoliner will be at the top of the list for consideration.

VS Dualist incoming.

I don’t even know the specs. It looks like a natural colored wheat Milan teardrop crown, and a sand colored brim with a fairly flat flange. I can’t quite make out the color of the ribbon.

That is SHARP looking. I see additional color options for the ribbon too.
