I have worked in publishing, teaching, and taxation. Now I am working in the family Thai silk business. We weave silk, and sell the fabric, as well as pocket squares, scarves, shawls etc...

I am a full-time single parent, and full-time student. Busy!

I was studying Law with a second major in Political Science, with an eye to International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and the Law of Combat, but found part-way through that the on-campus hours required (research, etc.) were more than my child-care budget could cope with. I transferred out and am now halfway through a Social Science degree, majoring in PolSci and minoring in History. Back to the law degree later. :)

In the past I have worked in a cinema, a sandwich bar, and a gaming supplies shop as a painter of custom models and miniature armies. :p I have also been a small business office manager, a trainee webdesign/graphic bunny, a waitress/kitchenhand/sometime barista & cold larder chef, and a bartender in the local Irish bar.

Mortgage Broker.

Was there an equivalent in the '40s?

Probably a banker. Ever notice in the old movies the banker threatening to foreclose on a house, or a purchaser of a house appealing to a banker?

BTW, I'm an audiology technician for a birthing hospital (do hearing tests on babies). Trying to figure out where to take my life after completing my B.S. in Psychology.

I am a social worker for the County of San Diego, in the Welfare to Work program, but will be retiring in 27 work days. It is freaking me out.

Also, I do part-time indexing for medical and nursing journals. I also index books when I find the work. Pay is nice and I can work from home.

I have also been a teacher, actress, book production editor, copy editor, general office worker, retail sales and concessions worker, and a playground recreation director (in college).

No wonder I ended up job counseling.

Technical writer, generally working on software documentation. For the last nine years I've been writing about incredibly boring mainframe software - so, for satisfaction, I do old-school b/w photography, write articles and reviews, continue my lifelong collecting/study of films, music, books, etc., and focus on quality time with my kids and parents!

Student and Stagehand.
I build sets for theatre productions, play with power tools, climb really tall scaffolding.
Doesn't pay much but it covers the Cup O' Noodles and general dorm expenses. Plus I work in the department that I'm majoring in, so I've made a lot of good connections.

Got really tired of studying three years ago so I quit my university studies (business administration) and started selling computers and accessories. Planning to go back once I find out what I really want to do. Right now my main interest is film noir (has been for a couple of years). In my spare time I'm reading books, discussing with "pros", taking web courses and watching a whole lot of movies. To bad it's unlikely I will be able to make a livelihood in this field.

Hmmm. What DOES Daddy do for a living?

Spent years in radio, marketing, advertising (possibly returning to). Currently in government, mainly pushing cookies. Government service is not my calling.
Recently escaped from a long-term behind the scenes smoke filled career in politics. Much better out than in.
I write compulsively.
Blah blah blah.

Anything & everything.

Pad imprinter, graphics production, web designer, prepress clerk, large format graphics finisher, purchasing agent, actor(hah!), retail clerk, museum docent...

Up next, possibly an airport refueler...long term, I'm shooting for a metal fabricator, machinist, or maybe an aircraft mechanic...maybe a pilot.

I'm not in debt now, but I'm probably going to be deep in the hole soon.

On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
I clean up poop, too...

Writer, consultant, entrepreneur. Self employed for more than 20 years, I now work in the lobbying group for the world's leading public relations company. My real passion is creative writing and I have several projects under active development (mostly meaning finished but not sold).

Like my profile indicates...I'm a clown...that's both figurative and literally. The love of my life and I have a small shop in the Texas Hill Country. Gags, Magic and Fart Machines and Fun! Hmm!!... I also teach a day class once a week for adults with developmental delays...Used to work with hard core gang members in a locked treatment facility. Before all this I worked on Aircraft for the DOD. Before that I worked on things that go boom! For the Military, of course!!
