I don't get the opportunity to go very often as vacations are few and far between when you have a horse business, but I will definitely continue when the opportunities do arrive.Thxs

A horse business? That sounds very interesting. What kind of business and what kind of horses?

Years ago fox hunting was my primary hobby, with horses I didn't have much time for other hobbies.

Is this a horse racing venture? Or just keeping horses?

Horses are beautiful animals, I've always wanted to take riding lessons.

Practically Family
We(as in the wife and myself)operate a Boarding,Training,Coaching facility,We also host game days during the Summer from April - Oct.

Well aware of those demands. You theorectically should never get away. Wow that can make you depressed especially in the cold winters when time to get up and feed! It has to be a very rewarding business at other times especially with the kids. "Worse" decision I ever made was getting my daughter riding lessons for her 10th birthday. Been paying for it everyday now for over 13 years. Need any barn cats? lol

BR Gordon- I hope to Fox Hunt one day. I'm enjoying riding once a week though.

I never was an elegant rider, but hunting taught me to be a strong rider, You're from an area with a much stronger hunting tradition than New Mexico, we have only one recognized hunt in the state. If you ever give fox hunting a try, I'm sure that you would enjoy it.

My wife and I have many joint interests. One of which, I see very little mention of here, and that's dancing. The real deal I mean, as in Latin & Ballroom. One of the Latin disciplines is the jive, I don't like the way that it has strict rules on the dance circuit and to that end my wife & I learned the earlier, freestyle forms of this dance. Namely Lindy, Balboa & Jitterbug. The Lindy grew into partner dancing, taking many of the steps and arrangements from the Charleston, it got more and more energetic until it became so silly that a new dance had to replace it, and that was the short lived Balboa. You pronounce it as you see it, emphasising every letter. Before long the Lindy made a comeback in the guise of the Jitterbug.
Danced with consideration, these styles can be a real crowd pleaser, but you always get the selfish show-offs that can ruin it for everyone. Here's a very, very energetic Lindy, followed by the Balboa. The latter, incidently, although danced close coupled, is in this case be danced as an exhibition, that's why they are covering more of the dance floor. Just a question if do watch the videos. Anybody recognise the music in the Lindy clip? I would love to know. Natalie & Yuval doing an energetic Lindy.Paul & Natasha dance Balboa. The music for the Balboa is: Minor Swing, by Django Rheinhardt & Stephane Grappelli.

That's so cool! I once joined the ballroom dance club at my college. Only went twice because no one wanted to dance with me. Thinking of joining the swing dance club because who wouldn't want to dance with a girl that's all decked out in 50's stuff at a swing dance club?

My hobbies consists of cross stitch and baking. Pretty classic. I consider myself an old lady. Even when I take those silly "what's your mental age" quizzes, I get a result of at least 40. I'm 20...
Anyways, I have been cross stitching Christmas gifts for my fiance's family since last year. Once those are finished, I will move on to a huge cross stitch of the map of Hyrule from Zelda: A Link to the Past.

I like mechanical things. I rebuild cars and bicycles, know my way around a mechanical typewriter, and am currently working on rebuilding a torchiere lamp that was in my grandmothers basement for as long as I can remember.

I also like to write (on an electric typewriter - a 1965 smith corona), and to cook. Speaking of which, today is Christmas baking day!

My wife rolls her eyes when the subject of hobbies comes up, because I have so many, and because many hold no interest for her. Well, that and the fact that many require special tools or "stuff" which ends up taking up more space in the house.

Pocket Watches
Geocaching
Vintage razors and accessories
Subcategorized by straight razors, single edge and double edge razors, hones, strops, polishing films, pastes, etc.
Steampunk, both costumes and literature
Proofreading and copy editing (I get fewer complaints about this one since I can and have charged for the services)
And now, vintage hats.

My wife must really love me.

Hello, new to the forum, (as you can tel from my post count :) ). I really enjoy sports car racing. I have an older Porsche that I track. Which means I do performance driving on race tracks. Not racing at all but certainly driving at top speeds. I've driven Watkins Glen in NY, Lime ROck Park in Ct, and Mid-Ohio in Oh. A really fun hobby. The pic is from driving at the Glen.
