I've been around, just not posting as frequently since I've begun commuting on 2 wheels.

Today, I am wearing a hat I just got on eBay. It arrived yesterday, but I took it out of the freezer today. According to a pretty faded stamp on the sweatband, it is made in England for Marshall Fields & Co., and is 60% Wool, and 40% Other. It has a 1 7/8" brim. I'm not sure when it's from. I find it a neat little hat.

Unfortunately, the sweatband is stained, but I don't mind. All I hope is that there is no ringworm!

Certainly suits you RS. I wish they suited me, as where I live in Yorkshire was, historically speaking, pretty much the centre of wool production in England and these kind of hats were very common around here and so I see plenty of them in the second hand shops. I occasionally see some very nice's 40's-60's examples with leather sweats that are nicely lined. As I say they don't suit me but if anyone is interested I'm more than happy to purchase and post on at cost price (they almost never sell for more than £5!) as I guess these hats are as rare over in the US as fur felt hats are here?
