Lee 101J Stormrider Raw (Japanese denim, but EU made, as the all_Japanese blanket lined is too snug for me. OK then, I'm too big for it..)

Stetson leather trucker (with trapper flaps that sit neatly under cap in mild weather) Darkened to a nice havana brown by some Pecards lovingly applied!

My dancing sweetheart Tom and I as dressed for "The April in Paris at Midnight Ball" last night (4/6/2013) in San Mateo, CA:

My gown is a newly made 20s-inspired midnight blue beaded dress made for Decades of Fashion vintage store in San Francisco, by the same designer that made dresses for the film, The Artist. This dress is perfect for me for dancing in as its not vintage-fragile. My earrings, choker, and Edwardian eyeglasses are all vintage pieces as is the peach 40s slip under the dress.

My Tom is wearing a vintage 1937 bespoke DB faille peak lapel tuxedo, with a vintage stud and cufflink set, wingtip collar with pique bib and cuffs tuxedo shirt from Jos. A. Banks, silk grosgrain self-tie bow tie from Ralph Lauren.

I need to hem up the slip about an inch, and Tom missed out on getting his haircut before the dance!

The attire may be mannish, however you, my dear, are all woman (and all lady).

Yes, MB! I was actually told by the vintage store dealer/owner that slips longer than the dresses was very typical in that era. She suggested that I hem this vintage slip up an inch, but want to check the slip length under an peach coloured all lace fabric vintage 40s dress first. I think having a bit of slip peeking is kinda cute

Today I had to drive to DC to have a conference with a surgeon, and since the temps are well over 80 right now I decided to go against all the rules and wear a seersucker suit with a Panama hat. I finished off the blue seersucker with a very pale pink dress shirt and a diamond tip chambray bow tie. I got quite a few looks in the hospital, but only one comment on my wardrobe. I stopped at a shop in Harpers Ferry to get my lottery tickets and a young man (mid 30's) was staring at me as I got out of my car. When I finally exited the car he called out and said "I have never seen anyone dressed like that before." I wanted to say something smart ass, but I just said, "It is just a classic style." He smiled and said, "Yes sir, it really is classic."

People used to dress well in DC but things have changed here just like everywhere else. Well, not quite as bad as everywhere else but getting there.
