I am heading to the stables today since the temperature is in the 50s. I am wearing a recently purchased pair of pre-WWII US Army officer's pinks fall front breeches. These are an unusually large size 36 Long and fit perfectly. I will post a photo of the mfg label later today.

This is a very nice day to try out the outfit I plan to wear for our trip to Sudetenland to celebrate the New Year. It´s very warm and looks casual.

And I have to add one more from 25. December - Me and my grandfather (would you guess him 80 years?), the best dressed men in our family. (I´m really envious of his jacket)

Was going for a '30s "working casual" look today.

*1930s Adams fedora
*GAP leather jacket
*modern "fitted" Van Heusen shirt
*1930s wool tie
*Ralph Lauren trousers
*GAP socks
*AE shoes

The shirt has small horizontal ribs throughout. A truly marvelous thing to behold.

This shows the socks and trouser patterns to good effect. The trousers are amazingly long and high-waisted.

I LOVE THEM!!!!!!! How are they to ride in? (It's been 40+ years since I've ridden in flared jodhpurs.)

Just_me, they are very comfortable riding. This is especially true when the temp is below the 50s since they are wool elastique. These are similar to a pair I had in the early 60s when I first started riding. I personally like the loose fit at the thighs which prevents them binding in the seat and also like them when they fit tight at just above the knee down to the calf. Elastique is forgiving when you have to bend the knee to reach the stirrups. I will post other more detailed photos shortly.

Before stretch fabrics, the flare was used to make the breeches or jodhpurs more comfortable when riding a horse. The tight cut from the knee down through the calf is to avoid rubs from the material against the rider's leg and the saddle. The short length (bottom of the calf on breeches) was so the material would not bunch up around the ankle inside your riding boot.

This is a very cool look! I really like the 30's working casual look a lot! I also think the idea of mixing 30's work wear styles with fedoras is a great look that you don't see today.
