What about Towncraft???

So, in my wanderings I came across this Towncraft black lid.
Can anyone help me to know what I dragged home...I think Towncraft means JC Penney, right? Did they make any decent stuff or is it all junk? Any idea when this may have been made?

It has a nice snap brim and is in very nice shape...here's the prerequisite pics...

Any help to understand what I have here is greatly appreciated!

Just found this thread. Last yr I posted pics of my Towncraft OR in the WHAYWT thread. Someone else has one too (Rick?). I'm starting to unbox some of my lighter colors for Spring. I take better pics when I get this one out.

Thanks! Someone had another Towncraft. It may have been a 3" Western instead of an OR, I don't recall. If it's not you then it might be DJH.

I'm waiting for a t'craft now, looking around for info. I"ve found nothing on the hats (other than this thread, a couple of other mentions elsewhere on the lounge), but on another site I found that as a JC Penney brand for shirts they first appeared in the late nineteen-fifties.

Yep, town craft was a line of men's clothing well into the 80's and possibly 90's

Seeing the same XXX Quality stamp on Towncraft and Marathon hats. Lee made Towncraft and Marathon . Did one replace the other, or did they exist simultaneously in the 50’s - 60’s - beyond? So many questions.
