More outings under my Optimo Original West in Silver Cloud before hot weather arrives to replace felt.

An old unbranded western that came to me some time back along with a few other hats that belonged to an old rancher in the Midwest.

Right out of the gate the cool feature of this hat is the wild sort of center fire crease he put in this hat. As shaped it’s a rakish 4 1/4 to 3 1/2 crown and a 3 1/4 brim with bound edge. The black felt is extremely soft to the touch with a slightly longish nap. Especially on the brim… which almost appears frayed from wear. There is no liner present and I Can’t find any sort of manufacturer markings under the sweat Which is sewn directly to the felt.

One that needs to come out to play more often.

That’s a great old hat, Joe. You can tell from the photos just how good the felt is. These are the hats that keep us searching the vintage market.

Wonderful crease, Joe. An all round great looking old Western. Nice catch!

Thanks Steve. It seems I don’t find enough occasions to wear my westerns. Trying to mix it up a bit to get more comfortable with them. My fear is I lose my affection for the stingies in the process. :D
Wear the western over the stingie OR wear the stingie on the western.....or a big stingie........................the best of BOTH WORLDS!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
