That's a real beauty in its own right, Bob. All that patina lends it plenty of character.
Thanks Dale!

Have you looked at/thought about an Akubra?Hi,
Most of these hats in this thread are too western for my taste. What are some other brands, other than Stetson? What are some more modest models like the OR?
Hi, I was thinking before I get an Open Road, I should consider other western hats. Like this one a lot. A google search seems to show it's discontinued.

Even a bowler or a Lords hat can be tweaked to have a western flair.
Do you need special steaming equipment? I'm thinking probably just the open road, but the range is similar, with a still modest brim that offers a little better shade, and would consider that if I could flatten the brim a bit. I don't like the really flared up brim. Is there a name for that flared up brim shape?
I'd actually like the to do the opposite. Get a cowboy hat yet tone down the western feel. That's if I don't just get the OR which is already a toned down mix of western and fedora.
Interesting proportions, I like it.Newly arrived Stetson 4X Beaver. The model is “Wagon Wheel Co” and the color is Sahara. The crown is much lower than I’m used to and I haven’t decided if it’s a keeper yet. It’s a generous 7 ¾ and although it’s a standard oval it fits my long oval head well.

The mottling is due to the felt being damp from a recent rain.
You wear it well, Brent. It suits you nicely in my opinion. Love the brim wing shape and colour.Newly arrived Stetson 4X Beaver. The model is “Wagon Wheel Co” and the color is Sahara. At the risk of speaking heresy, I think that is irrelevant.Cool hat bud. I like it..I can't decide if it's Western or Outback....the color is spot on
It doesn’t say Open Road anywhere on it.How is this not an OR
It’s vintage. Look for a 3x6 Rancher that you can rework. That looks like the OR, but with rough edge, and straight brim
How much will that hat set a fellow back?
