I always enjoy seeing this one.

Thanks Perry.

OK, folks, it's time to pack it in. There are no other hats to be seen here. Alan has the best, so let's enjoy his pictures and retire from the hat world happy we got to see it!

<Smiling> thanks, but in reality there is a ton of good stuff buried like treasure in them thar hills. I just happen to still be walking the trails and posting pictures. It's a shame that so many older photos are unavailable, but it is still worthwhile bumping old threads and catching up on what we've forgotten.

Hats of the old times and, fortunately, our time. Thanks for sharing Alan.

Thanks Perry.

Did some digging on the history of this Nutria Hat. To the best of my knowledge, It appears to be from the late 1920's to the late 1930's. This is based on the sweatband showing it is from the H.W. Starr Saddle Shop on 530 Broadway in Oakland, CA. Per Oaklands local museum records, The H.W. Saddle shop moved several times and was briefly located at 530 Broadway. There is a vintage photo of a man on a horse, taken in 1938, outside the shop and a movie theater showing "Out West With the Hardys" This along with the hand embroidered liner and older style Stetson logo makes this the oldest hat I own. When I got it it had a round flat crease and I just recently reshaped it to a more tradtional western hat to my liking.
