Actually, it already has a slight curl along the brim edge that was left over from the fedora snap brim after I resized it. If I'm careful when I iron out the brim I could probably leave the curled brim edge as is.
Sorry I'm late to the party. That's a nice looking western if I don't say so myself. A pencil roll sounds like a great idea, my only concern would be if you lost some of the stitched brim visual if you went that route. I'm not really sure, just a thought. I also wonder how a gambler style crown would look. In any case, you have a winner there T.Need some input here on my latest black Borsalino project. I wanted to make a fedora out it but the 3 1/4 wide brim proportion to the crown height is just too much for my taste. I can very easily fix that by trimming the brim down to 2 3/4. But, I lose the stitched brim edge if I do that. My other option is to make a Western out of it if want I to keep the brim treatment. Here's an idea of what it would look like if I choose to go western with this. Nothing's set in stone yet. I put a quick and dry creased make shift cattleman in the crown and did a quick brim shaping just to get an idea of what it may look like if I choose go Western with it. Any thoughts, ideas?
Then again, it's not every day you see a Borsalino Western, although I've seen a couple.
Thank you, Ryan. There's just so many different possibilities with this hat and you guys have given me a few good ideas to consider.
Fortunately it's on a county road & not a major highway. If the right deputy sheriff is out there he will close off access & we can get a couple of dogs to round them up pretty quick. They're all accounted for I think but one of the other guys in the CO-OP will go up this morning & check off tag #'s.
Sounds like my wife, especially the contrary part. Only I sure wouldn't be putting on one of my good hats to go looking for her, though.

I've had this Rand since 1991-1992 & it is starting to show it's age some. It's been among my favorite hats for at least 25-26 yrs & I have debated the last yr or two whether I should give it a bath & a new ribbon or not; maybe have Ritch rebuild it. I have decided after all the good yrs it has brought to me it truly does have a life of its own, it deserves to age gracefully, & it will out live me anyway. So much for inanimate objects not getting into your heart. It's untouchable.
...and after all these years it still looks great, despite showing its age. I can see why it's among your favorites. Probably well worth rebuilding.
