Wesco Mister Lou Sizing

Hi all - I'm new to Wesco boots. Seems like I see a lot of Mister Lou's in E width, but then the description mentions something about "fitting more like a D width."
Maybe a stupid question, but why wouldn't Wesco just list them as D width?

Personal experience of Wesco boots (I have Engi’s - Mr Lous and Boss - and normal boots - I think 4 pairs in total? But I had to sell another pair that were too small) is that unlike all the other Pacific boot makers their sizing is close to being true to Brannock lengthwise and “Yes” their “E” is more like a regular “D”. My feet are pretty normal length and width-wise (10.5 D) but high “volume” (high arch & instep) so this may play a part in my experience.

Hope that helps!

Thanks - this does help.

I don't have a pair of Mr. Lou's but I do have a couple pair of Wesco boots, both 14" and both are harness boots, one black, one brown.

Both are 10.5 and the brown pair will comfortably fit a thicker sock than the black. My experience has been that there's a little bit of variance in hand made boots and probably always will be. For reference, I also have two pair of Chippewa harness boots, one black and one brown, both 10.5. They fit identically with zero variance.

My impression has been that years back Wesco was almost exclusively a work boot company. Somewhere in recent years they've become fashionable as well and once skinny pants became popular fewer could buy Wesco boots which wouldn't even come close to fitting a narrow cuff. The tried to make an eng boot as skinny as possible and I've heard that may apply to the footbed as well. If you're a D just plan on ordering an E and I'd call around to your boot shop or to Wesco direct to verify. BTW, if you're buying standard boots don't buy them from Wesco, buy them from a Wesco boot dealer; you'll get a better price for sure.

The best online Wesco boot shop isn't a boot shop anymore. It was ********* Boots and they have a ton of info on sizing but none specific to Mister Lou's. That info is here:

Get on bakers website and fill out a fit sheet and send it in. Its what theyve done for years and years, they have a ton of exoerience in fitting people. Id also encourage checking out other engineers too, im getting tired of just seeing posts of mr lous on social media. Heres my nomad, there should be a black friday sale coming up soon and bakers has a custom configurator for the nomads and boss.

^^I second the White's and Nomads (and also the Cykle) models. Excellent boots and nearly indestructible.
I ordered mine last black friday and got them in june and its been too hot to even wear them. I dont see anything wrong with the mr lous, wesco makes a great boot, but thats got to be 90% of the boots i see posted on social media. If im paying that much for a boot i dont really want the same thing everybody else has.
